The Book of Psalms [Songs]

Psalm 80

For the Chief Musician, set to Shoshanim Eduth. A Psalm of Asaph.

1 Give ear, O Shepherd of Yisrayah. Shine forth, you who leads Yahusef like a flock, you who sits above the cherubim.

2 Before Ephrayim, Benjamin, and Manasseh, stir up your might, and come to save us.

3 Turn us again, O Yahwah, cause your face to shine, and we will be saved.

4 O Yahwah Father of hosts, how long will you be angry against the prayer of your people?

5 You fed them with the bread of tears, and gave them tears to drink in large measure.

6 You make us a strife to our neighbors, and our enemies laugh among themselves.

7 Turn us again, O Master of hosts. Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved.

8 You brought a vine out of Egypt, you drove out the nations, and planted it.

9 You prepared room before it. It took deep root, and filled the land.

10 The mountains were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs thereof were like cedars of Yahwah.

11 It sent out its branches to the sea, and its shoots to the River.

12 Why do you break down its walls, so all those who pass by the way pluck it?

13 The boar out of the wood ravages it, and the wild beasts of the field feed on it.

14 Turn again, we beseech you, O Father of hosts. Look down from heaven. Behold, and visit this vine,

15 the stock your right hand planted, the branch you made strong for yourself.

16 It is burned with fire, it is cut down. They perish at the rebuke of your countenance.

17 Let your hand be upon the man of your right hand, upon the son of man who you made strong for yourself.

18 So we will not go back from you. Quicken us, we call upon your Name.

19 Turn us again, O Yahwah Father of hosts. Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved.

Psalm 81

For the Chief Musician; set to the Gittith. A Psalm of Asaph.

1 Sing aloud to Yahwah our strength, make a joyful noise to the Father of Yaacob.

2 Raise a song, and bring here the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.

3 Blow the trumpet at the new moon. At the full moon, on our feast-day.

4 For it is a statute for Yisrayah, an ordinance of the Father of Yaacob.

5 He appointed it in Yahusef [Joseph] for a testimony, when he went out over the land of Egypt, where I heard a language I did not know.

6 I removed his shoulder from the burden. His hands were freed from the basket.

7 You called in trouble, and I delivered you. I answered you in the secret place of thunder. I proved you at the waters of Meribah. Selah [may it be so]

8 Hear, O My people, I will testify to you. O Yisrayah, if you would hearken to Me!

9 There will be no strange God in you. Neither will you worship any foreign god.

10 I am Yahwah your Father, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

11 But my people did not hearken to My voice, Yisrayah would have none of Me.

12 So I let them go after the stubbornness of their heart, that they might walk in their own counsels.

13 Oh that My people would hearken to Me, that Yisrayah would walk in My ways!

14 I would soon subdue their enemies, and turn my hand against their adversaries.

15 The haters of Yahwah should submit themselves to Him, but their time should endure forever.

16 He would feed them also with the finest of the wheat. I would satisfy you with honey out of the rock.

Psalm 82

A Psalm of Asaph.

1 The God [Enlil, Psalm 89:7] stands in the congregation of the gods. He judges among the gods [elohim].

2 [Ea says:] How long will you judge unjustly, and respect the persons of the wicked? Selah

3 Judge the poor and fatherless. Do justice to the afflicted and destitute.

4 Rescue the poor and needy. Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.

5 [An says to Ea:] They do not know, nor do they understand, they walk to and fro in darkness. All the foundations of the earth are shaken.

6 I [Ea] said [to the congregation]: You are gods, all of you sons of the Most High [An].

7 Nevertheless you will die like men, and fall like one of the princes.

8 Arise, O Father [An], judge the earth. For you inherit all the nations.

Psalm 83

A song. A Psalm of Asaph.

1 O Father, do not keep your silence. Do not hold your peace, and do not be still, O Yahwah.

2 Lo, your enemies make a tumult, those who hate you lift up their heads.

3 They take crafty counsel against your people, and consult together against your hidden ones.

4 They say: Come, let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Yisrayah is not in remembrance anymore.

5 They consult together with one consent. They make a covenant against you:

6 the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab, and the Hagarenes;

7 Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;

8 Assyria also is joined with them; they help the children of Lot. Selah

9 Do to them as to Midian, as to Sisera, as to Jabin at the river Kishon,

10 who perished at Endor, who became as dung for the earth.

11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb. Yea, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,

12 who said: Let us take in possession to ourselves the habitations of Yahwah.

13 O my Father, make them like the whirling dust, as stubble before the wind,

14 as the fire that burns the forest, and as the flame that sets the mountains on fire.

15 So pursue them with your tempest, and terrify them with your storm.

16 Fill their faces with confusion, that they may seek your Name, O Yahwah.

17 Let them be put to shame, and dismayed forever. Yea, let them be confounded, and perish,

18 that they may know you alone, whose Name is Yahwah, are the Most High over all the earth.

Psalm 84

For the Chief Musician; set to the Gittith. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.

1 How amiable are your tabernacles, O Yahwah of hosts!

2 My soul longs, yea, even faints for the courts of Yahwah. My heart and my flesh cry out to the living Yahwah.

3 Yea, the sparrow has found her a house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even your altars, O Yahwah of hosts, My King, and my Father.

4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house. They are still praising you. Selah

5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion.

6 Passing through the valley of weeping they make it a place of springs. Yea, the early rain covers it with blessings.

7 They go from strength to strength. Every one of them appears before Yahwah in Zion.

8 O Yahwah Father of hosts, hear my prayer. Give ear, O Father of Yaacob. Selah

9 Behold, O Father our shield, and look upon the face of your anointed.

10 For a day in your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my Father, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

11 Yahwah our Father is a sun, and a shield. Yahwah gives grace, and glory. He withholds no good thing from those who walk uprightly.

12 O Yahwah of hosts, blessed is the man who trusts in you.

Psalm 85

For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.

1 Yahwah, you are favorable to your land, you brought back the captivity of Yaacob.

2 You forgave the iniquity of your people, you covered all their sin. Selah

3 You took away all your wrath, you turned yourself from the fierceness of your anger.

4 Turn us, O Father of our salvation, and cause your indignation toward us to cease.

5 Will you be angry with us forever? Will you draw out your anger to all generations?

6 Will you not quicken us again, that your people may rejoice in you?

7 Show us your lovingkindness, O Yahwah, and grant us your salvation.

8 I will hear what Father Yahwah will speak. For He will speak peace to His people, and to His saints. But let them not turn to folly again.

9 Surely His salvation is near those who fear Him, that glory may dwell in our land.

10 Mercy and truth are met together. Righteousness and peace kiss each other.

11 Truth springs out of the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven.

12 Yea, Yahwah gives what is good, and our land yields its increase.

13 Righteousness goes before Him, and makes His footsteps a way to walk in.

Psalm 86

1 Bow down your ear, O Yahwah, and answer me. For I am poor and needy.

2 Preserve my soul, for I am righteous. O you my Father, save your servant who trusts in you.

3 Be merciful to me, O Yahwah, for I cry to you all the day long.

4 Rejoice the soul of your servant, O Yahwah, for I lift up my soul to you.

5 Yahwah, you are good, ready to forgive, and abundant in lovingkindness to all those who call upon you.

6 O Yahwah, give ear to my prayer, hearken to the voice of my supplications.

7 I will call upon you in the day of my trouble, for you will answer me.

8 There is none like to you among the gods, O Yahwah. Neither are there any works like to your works.

9 All nations whom you made will come and worship before you, O Yahwah. They will glorify your Name.

10 You are great, and do wondrous things, you are Father alone.

11 Teach me your way, O Yahwah, I will walk in your truth. Unite my heart to fear your Name.

12 I praise you, O Yahwah my Father, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your Name for evermore.

13 Your lovingkindness toward me is great, you deliver my soul from the lowest grave.

14 O Father, the proud are risen up against me. A company of violent men seek after my soul, and do not set you before them.

15 O Yahwah, you are a Father merciful and gracious, slow to anger, abundant in lovingkindness and truth. [Exodus 34:6]

16 Oh turn to me, and have mercy upon me. Give your strength to your servant, and save the son of your handmaid.

17 Show me a token for good, that those who hate me may see it, and be put to shame, because you, Yahwah, help me, and comfort me.

Psalm 87

A Psalm of the sons of Korah; a Song.

1 His foundation is in the holy mountains.

2 Yahwah loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Yaacob.

3 Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of Yahwah. Selah

4 I make mention of Rahab and Babylon as among those who know me. Behold, Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia. This one was born there.

5 Yea, of Zion it will be said: This one and that one was born in her, and the Most High Himself will establish her.

6 Yahwah will count, when He writes up the peoples: This one was born there. Selah

7 Those who sing, as well as those who dance, will say: All my fountains are in you.

Psalm 88

A Song, a Psalm of the sons of Korah; for the Chief Musician; set to Mahalath Leannoth. Maschil of Heman the Ezrahite.

1 O Yahwah, the Father of my salvation, I cry day and night before you.

2 Let my prayer enter into your presence. Incline your ear to my cry.

3 My soul is full of troubles, and my life draws near to the grave.

4 I am reckoned with those who go down into the pit. I am as a man who has no help,

5 cast off among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom you remember no more, and they are cut off from your hand.

6 You laid me in the lowest pit, in dark places, in the deeps.

7 Your wrath lies hard upon me, you afflicted me with all your waves. Selah

8 You put my acquaintance far from me, you make me an abomination to them. I am shut up, I cannot come forth.

9 My eye wastes away by reason of affliction. I call upon you daily, O Yahwah. I spread my hands forth to you.

10 Will you show wonders to the dead? Shall those who are deceased arise and praise you? Selah

11 Shall your lovingkindness be declared in the grave? Or your faithfulness in Destruction?

12 Shall your wonders be known in the dark? Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

13 O Yahwah, I cry to you. In the morning my prayer comes before you.

14 Yahwah, why do you cast off my soul? Why do you hide your face from me?

15 I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up. While I suffer your terrors I am distracted.

16 Your fierce wrath is gone over me, your terrors cut me off.

17 They came round about me like water all the day long. They compassed me about together.

18 You put lover and friend far from me, and my acquaintance into darkness.

Psalm 89

Maschil of Ethan the Ezrahite.

1 I sing of the lovingkindness of Yahwah forever. With my mouth I make known your faithfulness to all generations.

2 For I said: Mercy will be built up forever, you will establish your faithfulness in the very heavens.

3 I made a covenant with my chosen, I swore to David my servant:

4 I establish your seed forever. I build up your throne to all generations. Selah

5 The heavens praise your wonders, O Yahwah, your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.

6 For who in the skies can be compared to Yahwah? Who among the sons of gods is like to Yahwah?

7 [The Lord] God [En.Lil] is very terrible [Mighty One] in the council of the holy ones [gods], and is feared above all those who are round about Him.

8 O Yahwah Father of hosts, who is a mighty one like to you, O Yah? Your faithfulness is round about you.

9 You rule the pride of the sea. When the waves arise thereof, you still them.

10 You broke Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain. You scattered your enemies with the arm of your strength.

11 The heavens are yours, the earth is yours also. You founded the world, and the fulness thereof.

12 The north and the south, you created them. Tabor and Hermon rejoice in your Name.

13 You have a mighty arm. Strong is your hand, and high is your right hand.

14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne. Lovingkindness and truth go before your face.

15 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound. They walk, O Yahwah, in the light of your countenance.

16 They rejoice all the day in your Name. They are exalted in your righteousness.

17 You are the glory of their strength. Our horn will be exalted in your favor.

18 Our shield belongs to Yahwah. And our king to the Holy One of Yisrayah.

19 Then you spoke in vision to your saints, and said: I laid help upon one that is mighty, I exalted one chosen out of the people.

20 I found David my servant. I anointed him with my holy oil,

21 with whom my hand will be established. My arm will strengthen him.

22 The enemy will not exact from him, nor the son of wickedness afflict him.

23 I will beat down his adversaries before him, and smite those who hate him.

24 But my faithfulness and my lovingkindness will be with him, and his horn will be exalted in my Name.

25 I will set his hand also on the sea, and his right hand on the rivers.

26 He will cry to me: You are my Father, Yahwah, the rock of my salvation.

27 I also will make him my first-born, the highest of the kings of the earth.

28 My lovingkindness I will keep for him for evermore, and my covenant will stand fast with him.

29 I will make his seed to endure forever, and his throne as the days of heaven.

30 If his children forsake my law, and do not walk in my ordinances,

31 If they break my statutes, and do not keep my commandments,

32 then I will visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.

33 But I will not utterly take my lovingkindness from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.

34 I will not break my covenant, nor alter the thing that went out of my lips.

35 Once I swear by my holiness, I will not lie to David.

36 His seed will endure forever, and his throne as the sun before me.

37 It will be established forever as the moon, and as the faithful witness in the sky. Selah

38 But you cast off, and rejected, you are wroth with your anointed.

39 You abhorred the covenant of your servant, you profaned his crown by casting it to the ground.

40 You broke down all his hedges, you brought his strongholds to ruin.

41 All that pass by the way rob him, he is become a reproach to his neighbors.

42 You exalted the right hand of his adversaries, you made all his enemies to rejoice.

43 Yea, you turn back the edge of his sword, and did not make him to stand in the battle.

44 You made his brightness to cease, and cast his throne down to the ground.

45 You shortened the days of his youth, you covered him with shame. Selah

46 How long, O Yahwah? Will you hide yourself forever? How long will your wrath burn like fire?

47 Oh remember how short my time is. For what vanity did you create all the children of men!

48 What man is he that will live, and not see death, that will deliver his soul from the power of the grave? Selah

49 Yahwah, where are your former lovingkindnesses, which you swore to David in your faithfulness?

50 Yahwah, remember the reproach of your servants. How I do bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty peoples,

51 wherewith your enemies reproached, O Yahwah, wherewith they reproached the footsteps of your anointed.

52 Blessed is Yahwah for evermore. Amein, and Amein.

Psalm 90

A Prayer of Moshe the man of Yahwah.

1 Yahwah, you are our dwelling-place in all generations.

2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, you are Yahwah.

3 You turn man to destruction, and say: Return, you children of men.

4 In your sight a thousand years are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night. [2Peter 3:8, Jubilees 4:30]

5 You carry them away as with a flood, they are as a sleep. In the morning they are like grass which grows up.

6 In the morning it flourishes, and grows up. In the evening it is cut down, and withers.

7 We are consumed in your anger, and we are troubled in your wrath.

8 You set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your countenance.

9 All our days are passed away in your wrath. We bring our years to an end as a sigh.

10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten, or even by reason of strength fourscore years. Yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for it is soon gone, and we fly away.

11 Who knows the power of your anger, and your wrath according to the fear that is due to you?

12 So teach us to number our days, that we may get us a heart of wisdom.

13 Return, O Yahwah, how long? Let it repent you concerning your servants.

14 Oh satisfy us in the morning with your lovingkindness, that we may rejoice, and be glad all our days.

15 Make us glad according to the days wherein you afflicted us, and the years wherein we saw evil.

16 Let your work appear to your servants, and your glory upon their children.

17 Let the favor of Yahwah our Father be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us. Yea, the work of our hands, establish it.

Psalm 91

1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High abides under the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I say of Yahwah: He is my refuge, and my fortress. My Father, in whom I trust.

3 He delivers you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence.

4 He covers you with His pinions, and you take refuge under His wings. His truth is a shield and a buckler.

5 You will not be afraid for the terror by night, nor for the arrow that flies by day,

6 for the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday.

7 A thousand will fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

8 Only with your eyes you will behold, and see the reward of the wicked.

9 O Yahwah, you are my refuge! You made the Most High your habitation.

10 There will no evil befall you, neither will any plague come near your tent.

11 He gives His malaks charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.

12 They bear you up in their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.

13 You tread upon the lion and adder, you trample the young lion and the serpent under foot.

14 Because he set his love upon me, therefore I deliver him. I set him on high, because he knows my Name.

15 He calls upon me, and I answer him. I am with him in trouble. I deliver him, and honor him.

Psalm 92

A Psalm, a Song for the sabbath day.

1 It is a good thing to give thanks to Yahwah, and to sing praises to your Name, O Most High,

2 to show forth your lovingkindness in the morning, and your faithfulness every night,

3 with an instrument of ten strings, and with the psaltery, with a solemn sound upon the harp.

4 Yahwah, you made me glad through your work. I triumph in the works of your hands.

5 How great are your works, O Yahwah! Your thoughts are very deep.

6 A brutish man does not know. Neither does a fool understand this.

7 When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity flourish, it is that they will be destroyed forever.

8 O Yahwah, you are on high for evermore.

9 Lo, your enemies, O Yahwah. Lo, your enemies perish. All the workers of iniquity are scattered.

10 But my horn you exalt like the horn of the wild-ox. I am anointed with fresh oil.

11 My eye sees my desire on my enemies. My ears hear my desire of the evil-doers that rise up against me.

12 The righteous will flourish like the palm-tree. He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

13 They are planted in the house of Yahwah. They will flourish in the courts of our Father.

14 They will still bring forth fruit in old age. They will be full of sap and green,

15 to show that Yahwah is upright. He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

Psalm 93

1 Yahwah reigns. He is clothed with majesty. Yahwah is clothed with strength. He girds Himself therewith. The world is established, that it cannot be moved.

2 Your throne is established of old, you are from everlasting.

3 The floods lift up, O Yahwah, the floods lift up their voice. The floods lift up their waves.

4 Above the voices of many waters, the mighty breakers of the sea, Yahwah on high is mighty.

5 Your testimonies are very sure. Holiness becomes your house, O Yahwah, for evermore.

Psalm 94

1 O Yahwah. Yahwah to whom vengeance belongs. Yahwah to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth.

2 Lift yourself up, you judge of the earth. Render to the proud their dessert.

3 Yahwah, how long will the wicked, how long will the wicked triumph?

4 They prate, they speak arrogantly. All the workers of iniquity boast themselves.

5 They break your people in pieces, O Yahwah, and afflict your heritage.

6 They slay the widow and the sojourner, and murder the fatherless.

7 They say: Yah will not see, neither will the Father of Yaacob consider.

8 Consider, you brutish among the people, and you fools, when will you be wise?

9 He that planted the ear, will He not hear? He that formed the eye, will He not see?

10 He that chastises the nations, will not He correct, even He that teaches man knowledge?

11 Yahwah knows the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

12 Blessed is the man whom you chasten, O Yah, and teach out of your law,

13 that you may give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit is dug for the wicked.

14 Yahwah will not cast off His people, neither will He forsake His inheritance.

15 Judgment will return to righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it.

16 Who will rise up for me against the evil-doers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

17 Unless Yahwah was my help, my soul had soon dwelt in silence.

18 When I said: My foot slips. Your lovingkindness held me up, O Yahwah.

19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me your comforts delight my soul.

20 Shall the throne of wickedness have fellowship with you, which frames mischief by statute?

21 They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.

22 But Yahwah is my high tower, and my Father, the rock of my refuge.

23 He brought their own iniquity upon them, and cut them off in their own wickedness. Yahwah our Father cut them off.

Psalm 95

1 Oh come, let us sing to Yahwah. Let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.

2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving. Let us make a joyful noise to Him with psalms.

3 For Yahwah is a great Yahwah, a great King above all gods.

4 In His hand are the deep places of the earth. The heights of the mountains are His also.

5 The sea is His, He made it. His hands formed the dry land.

6 Oh come, let us worship, and bow down. Let us kneel before Yahwah our Maker.

7 He is our Father, we are the people of His pasture, the sheep of His hand. Today, oh that you would hear His voice!

8 Do not harden your heart, as at Meribah, as in the day of Massah in the wilderness,

9 when your fathers tested me, proved me, and saw my work.

10 Forty years long I was grieved with that generation, and said: It is a people who err in their heart, they do not know my ways.

11 Wherefore I swore in my wrath, that they should not enter into my rest.

Psalm 96

1 Oh sing a new song to Yahwah. Sing to Yahwah, all the earth.

2 Sing to Yahwah, bless His Name. Show forth His salvation from day to day.

3 Declare His glory among the nations, His marvellous works among all the peoples.

4 For Yahwah is great, and greatly to be praised. He is to be feared above all gods.

5 All the gods of the Gentile nations are worthless. But Yahwah made the heavens.

6 Honor and majesty are before Him. Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.

7 Ascribe to Yahwah, you kindreds of the peoples, ascribe to Yahwah glory and strength.

8 Ascribe to Yahwah the glory due to his Name. Bring an offering, and come into His courts.

9 Oh, worship Yahwah in holy array. Tremble before Him, all the earth.

10 Say among the nations: Yahwah reigns. The world also is established that it cannot be moved. He judges the peoples with equity.

11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice. Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof.

12 Let the field exult, and all that is therein. Then all the trees of the wood will sing for joy before Yahwah.

13 For He comes, He comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with His truth.

Psalm 97

1 Yahwah reigns, let the earth rejoice. Let the multitude of isles be glad.

2 Clouds and darkness are round about Him. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.

3 A fire goes before Him, and burns up His adversaries round about.

4 His lightnings lightened the world. The earth saw, and trembled.

5 The mountains melted like wax at the presence of Yahwah, at the presence of the Master of the whole earth.

6 The heavens declare His righteousness, and all the peoples see His glory.

7 Let all them be put to shame that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols. Worship Him, all you gods.

8 Zion heard, and was glad. The daughters of Yahudah rejoiced, because of your judgments, O Yahwah.

9 O Yahwah, you are supreme above all the earth, most supreme are you over all gods.

10 O you who love Yahwah, hate evil. He preserves the souls of His saints. He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.

11 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

12 Be glad in Yahwah, you righteous. Give thanks to His holy memorial Name.

Psalm 98

A Psalm.

1 Oh sing a new song to Yahwah, for He does marvellous things. His right hand, and His holy arm, wrought salvation for Him.

2 Yahwah made His salvation known. He openly showed His righteousness in the sight of the nations.

3 He remembers His lovingkindness and His faithfulness toward the house of Yisrayah. All the ends of the earth see the salvation of our Father.

4 Make a joyful noise to Yahwah, all the earth. Break forth, and sing for joy. Yea, sing praises.

5 Sing praises to Yahwah with the harp, with the harp and the voice of melody.

6 With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the King, Yahwah.

7 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof. The world, and those who dwell therein.

8 Let the floods clap their hands. Let the hills sing for joy together

9 before Yahwah, for He comes to judge the earth. He judges the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

Psalm 99

1 Yahwah reigns, let the peoples tremble. He sits above the cherubim, let the earth be moved.

2 Yahwah is great in Zion, He is high above all the peoples.

3 Let them praise your great and terrible Name. Holy is He.

4 The king's strength also loves justice. You establish equity, you execute justice and righteousness in Yaacob.

5 Exalt Yahwah our Father, worship at His footstool. Holy is He.

6 Moshe and Aaron among His priests, and Samuel among those who call upon His Name. They called upon Yahwah, and He answered them.

7 He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud. They kept His testimonies, and the statute He gave them.

8 You answered them, O Yahwah our Father. You were a Father who forgave them, though you took vengeance of their doings.

9 Exalt Yahwah our Father, and worship at His holy hill. Yahwah our Father is holy.

Psalm 100

A Psalm of thanksgiving.

1 Make a joyful noise to Yahwah, all you lands.

2 Serve Yahwah with gladness. Come before His presence with singing.

3 Know that Yahwah, He is our Father. It is He who made us, and we are His. We are His people, the sheep of His pasture.

4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, and bless His Name.

5 Yahwah is good. His lovingkindness endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations.

Psalm 101

A Psalm of David.

1 I sing of lovingkindness and justice. O Yahwah, I sing praises to you.

2 I behave myself wisely in a perfect way. Oh when will you come to me? I walk within my house with a perfect heart.

3 I set no base thing before my eyes. I hate the work of those who turn aside. It will not cleave to me.

4 A perverse heart departs from me. I know no evil thing.

5 Whoso secretly slanders his neighbor, him I will destroy. I do not suffer he who has a high look, and a proud heart.

6 My eyes are upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me. He that walks in a perfect way, he ministers to me.

7 He that works deceit will not dwell within my house. He that speaks falsehood will not be established before my eyes.

8 Morning by morning I destroy all the wicked of the land, to cut off all the workers of iniquity from the city of Yahwah.

Psalm 102

A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed, and pours out his complaint before Yahwah.

1 Hear my prayer, O Yahwah, and let my cry come to you.

2 Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress. Incline your ear to me. In the day when I call answer me speedily.

3 For my days consume away like smoke, and my bones are burned as a firebrand.

4 My heart is smitten like grass, and withered, for I forget to eat my bread.

5 By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my flesh.

6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness, I am become as an owl of the waste places.

7 I watch, and am become like a sparrow that is alone upon the housetop.

8 My enemies reproach me all the day. Those who are mad against me do curse me.

9 I eat ashes like bread, and mingle my drink with weeping,

10 because of your indignation, and your wrath. You took me up, and cast me away.

11 My days are like a shadow that declines, I am withered like grass.

12 O Yahwah, you will abide forever, and your memorial Name to all generations.

13 You will arise, and have mercy upon Zion. For it is time to have pity upon her, yea, the set time is come.

14 Your servants take pleasure in her stones, and have pity upon her dust.

15 So the nations will fear the Name of Yahwah, and all the kings of the earth your glory.

16 Yahwah built up Zion, He appears in His glory.

17 He regards the prayer of the destitute, and does not despise their prayer.

18 This will be written for the generation to come, and a people which will be created will praise Yah.

19 For He looks down from the height of His sanctuary. From heaven Yahwah beholds the earth,

20 to hear the sighing of the prisoner, to loose those that are appointed to death,

21 that men may declare the Name of Yahwah in Zion, and His praise in Yerusalem

22 when the peoples are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve Yahwah.

23 He weakened my strength in the way, He shortened my days.

24 I said: O Yahwah, do not take me away in the midst of my days, your years are throughout all generations.

25 Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.

26 They will perish, but you will endure. Yea, all of them will wax old like a garment. As a vesture you will change them, and they will be changed.

27 But you are the same, and your years have no end.

28 The children of your servants will continue, and their seed will be established before you.

Psalm 103

A Psalm of David.

1 Bless Yahwah, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy Name.

2 Bless Yahwah, O my soul, and do not forget all His benefits,

3 who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases,

4 who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,

5 who satisfies your desire with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

6 Yahwah executes righteous acts, and judgments for all that are oppressed.

7 He made His ways known to Moshe, His doings to the children of Yisrayah.

8 Yahwah is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness.

9 He will not always chide, neither will He keep His anger forever.

10 He does not deal with us after our sins, nor reward us after our iniquities.

11 As the heavens are high above the earth, so is His lovingkindness great toward those who fear Him.

12 As far as the east is from the west, so far He removes our transgressions from us.

13 Like as a father pities his children, so Yahwah pities those who fear Him.

14 He knows our frame, He remembers we are dust.

15 As for man, his days are as grass. As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.

16 The wind passes over it, and it is gone, the place thereof will know it no more.

17 But the lovingkindness of Yahwah is from everlasting to everlasting upon those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children's children,

18 to such as keep His covenant, and to those that remember His precepts to do them.

19 Yahwah established His throne in the heavens, and His kingdom rules over all.

20 Bless Yahwah, you His malaks, that are mighty in strength, that fulfil his Word, hearkening to the voice of His Word.

21 Bless Yahwah, all you His hosts, you ministers of His, that do His pleasure.

22 Bless Yahwah, all you His works, in all places of His dominion. Bless Yahwah, O my soul.

Psalm 104

1 Bless Yahwah, O my soul. O Yahwah my Father, you are very great. You are clothed with honor and majesty,

2 who covers yourself with light as with a garment, who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,

3 who lays the beams of His chambers in the waters, who makes the clouds His chariot, who walks upon the wings of the wind,

4 who makes winds His messengers, flames of fire His ministers,

5 who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be moved forever.

6 You covered it with the deep as with a vesture, the waters stood above the mountains.

7 At your rebuke they fled. At the voice of your thunder they hasted away.

8 The mountains rose, the valleys sank down to the place you founded for them.

9 You set a bound they may not pass over, that they do not turn to cover the earth again.

10 He sends forth springs into the valleys. They run among the mountains,

11 they give drink to every beast of the field. The wild asses quench their thirst.

12 By them the birds of the heavens have their habitation. They sing among the branches.

13 He waters the mountains from his chambers. The earth is filled with the fruit of your works.

14 He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man, that he may bring forth food out of the earth,

15 Wine that makes the heart of man glad, oil to make his face to shine, and bread that strengthens man's heart.

16 The trees of Yahwah are filled with moisture, the cedars of Lebanon, which He planted, where the birds make their nests.

17 As for the stork, the fir-trees are her house.

18 The high mountains are for the wild goats. The rocks are a refuge for the conies.

19 He appointed the moon for seasons. The sun knows his going down.

20 You make darkness, and it is night, wherein all the beasts of the forest creep forth.

21 The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their food from Yahwah.

22 The sun arises, they get them away, and lay them down in their dens.

23 Man goes forth to his work and to his labor until the evening.

24 O Yahwah, how manifold are your works! In wisdom you made them all. The earth is full of your riches.

25 Yonder is the sea, great and wide, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.

26 There go the ships. There is Leviathan, who you formed to play therein.

27 These all wait for you, that you may give them their food in due season.

28 You give to them, they gather. You open your hand, they are satisfied with good.

29 You hide your face, they are troubled. You take away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.

30 You send forth your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground.

31 Let the glory of Yahwah endure forever. Let Yahwah rejoice in His works,

32 who looks on the earth, and it trembles. He touches the mountains, and they smoke.

33 I will sing to Yahwah as long as I live. I will sing praise to my Father while I have any being.

34 Let your meditation be sweet to Him. I rejoice in Yahwah.

35 Let sinners be consumed out of the earth. Let the wicked be no more. Bless Yahwah, O my soul. Hallelu Yah.

Psalm 105

1 Oh give thanks to Yahwah, call upon His Name. Make His doings known among the peoples.

2 Sing to Him, sing praises to Him. Talk of all His marvelous works.

3 Glory in His holy Name. Let the heart of those who seek Yahwah rejoice.

4 Seek Yahwah, and His strength. Seek His face evermore.

5 Remember His marvellous works He did, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,

6 O you seed of Abraham His servant, you children of Yaacob, His chosen ones.

7 He is Yahwah our Father. His judgments are in all the earth.

8 He remembers His covenant forever, the word He commanded to a thousand generations,

9 the covenant He made with Abraham, His oath to Isaac,

10 and confirmed the same to Yaacob for a statute, to Yisrayah for an everlasting covenant,

11 saying: I give the land of Canaan to you, the lot of your inheritance;

12 when they were but a few men in number. Yea, very few, and sojourners in it.

13 They went about from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people.

14 He suffered no man to do them wrong. Yea, He reproved kings for their sakes,

15 Saying: Do not touch my anointed ones, and do my prophets no harm.

16 He called for a famine upon the land, He broke the whole staff of bread.

17 He sent a man before them. Yahusef was sold for a servant.

18 His feet they hurt with fetters, he was laid in chains of iron,

19 until the time His Word came to pass, the Word of Yahwah tried him.

20 The king sent, loosed him, even the ruler of peoples, and let him go free.

21 He made him master of his house, ruler of all his substance,

22 to bind his princes at his pleasure, and teach his elders wisdom.

23 Yisrayah also came into Egypt, Yaacob sojourned in the land of Ham [Khem].

24 He increased his people greatly, and made them stronger than their adversaries.

25 He turned their heart to hate His people, to deal subtly with His servants.

26 He sent Moshe His servant, and Aaron whom He chose.

27 They set among them His signs, and wonders in the land of Ham.

28 He sent darkness, and made it dark. They did not rebel against His words.

29 He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.

30 Their land swarmed with frogs in the chambers of their kings.

31 He spoke, and there came swarms of flies and lice in all their borders.

32 He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.

33 He smote their vines also and their fig-trees, and broke the trees of their borders.

34 He spoke, and the locust came, and the grasshopper, and that without number,

35 and ate up every herb in their land, and ate up the fruit of their ground.

36 He also smote all the first-born in their land, the chief of all their strength.

37 He brought them forth with silver and gold, and there was not one feeble person among His tribes.

38 Egypt was glad when they departed, for the fear of them fell upon them.

39 He spread a cloud for a covering, and fire to give light in the night.

40 They asked, He brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

41 He opened the rock, and waters gushed out. They ran in the dry places like a river.

42 He remembered His holy word, and Abraham His servant.

43 He brought His people forth with joy, and His chosen with singing.

44 He gave them the lands of the nations, and they took the labor of the peoples in possession,

45 that they might keep His statutes, and observe His law. Hallelu Yah.

Psalm 106

1 Hallelu Yah. Oh give thanks to Yahwah, for He is good, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

2 Who can utter the mighty acts of Yahwah, or show forth all His praise?

3 Blessed are those who keep justice, and he who does righteousness at all times.

4 Remember me, O Yahwah, with the favor you bear to your people. Oh, visit me with your salvation,

5 that I may see the prosperity of your chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation, that I may glory with your inheritance.

6 We sinned with our fathers, we commit iniquity, we do wickedly.

7 Our fathers did not understand your wonders in Egypt. They did not remember the multitude of your lovingkindnesses, but were rebellious at the sea, even at the Red Sea.

8 Nevertheless He saved them for His Name's sake, that He might make His mighty power to be known.

9 He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it was dried up. So He led them through the depths, as through a wilderness.

10 He saved them from the hand of Him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

11 The waters covered their adversaries. There was not one of them left.

12 Then they believed His words, they sang His praise.

13 They soon forgot His works, they did not wait for His counsel,

14 but lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tested Yahwah in the desert.

15 He gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul.

16 They envied Moshe also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of Yahwah.

17 The earth opened, swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.

18 A fire was kindled in their company. The flame burned up the wicked.

19 They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped a molten image.

20 Thus they changed their glory for the likeness of an ox that eats grass.

21 They forgot Yahwah their Savior, who did great things in Egypt,

22 wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red Sea.

23 Therefore He said He would destroy them, had Moshe his chosen not stood before Him in the breach, to turn away His wrath, lest He should destroy them.

24 Yea, they despised the pleasant land. They did not believe His word,

25 but murmured in their tents, and did not hearken to the voice of Yahwah.

26 Therefore He swore to them He would overthrow them in the wilderness,

27 that He would overthrow their seed among the nations, and scatter them in the lands.

28 They joined themselves also to Lord-peor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.

29 Thus they provoked Him to anger with their doings, and the plague broke in upon them.

30 Then Phinehas stood up, and executed judgment. So the plague was stayed.

31 That was reckoned to him for righteousness, to all generations for evermore.

32 They angered Him also at the waters of Meribah, so that it went ill with Moshe for their sakes,

33 because they were rebellious against His spirit, and he spoke unadvisedly with his lips.

34 They did not destroy the peoples, as Yahwah commanded them,

35 but mingled themselves with the nations, and learned their works,

36 and served their idols, which became a snare to them.

37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons.

38 They shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan. The land was polluted with blood.

39 Thus they were defiled with their works, and played the harlot in their doings.

40 Therefore the wrath of Yahwah was kindled against His people, and He abhorred His inheritance.

41 He gave them into the hand of the nations, and those who hated them ruled over them.

42 Their enemies oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.

43 Many times He delivered them, but they were rebellious in their counsel, and were brought low in their iniquity.

44 Nevertheless He regarded their distress, when He heard their cry.

45 He remembered for them His covenant, and repented according to the multitude of His lovingkindnesses.

46 He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captive.

47 Save us, O Yahwah our Father, and gather us from among the nations, to give thanks to your holy Name, and to triumph in your praise.

48 Blessed is Yahwah, the Father of Yisrayah, from everlasting even to everlasting. Let all the people say, Amein. Hallelu Yah.

Psalm 107

1 O give thanks to Yahwah. He is good. His lovingkindness endures forever.

2 Let the redeemed of Yahwah say so, whom He redeemed from the hand of the adversary,

3 and gathered out of the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.

4 They wandered in the wilderness in a desert way, they found no city of habitation.

5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.

6 Then they cried to Yahwah in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses.

7 He led them also by a straight way, that they might go to a city of habitation.

8 Oh that men would praise Yahwah for His lovingkindness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!

9 For He satisfies the longing soul, and He fills the hungry soul with good.

10 Such as sat in darkness, and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron,

11 because they rebelled against the words of Yahwah, and contemned the counsel of the Most High.

12 Therefore He brought their heart down with labor. They fell down, and there was none to help.

13 Then they cried to Yahwah in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses.

14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bonds in sunder.

15 Oh that men would praise Yahwah for His lovingkindness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!

16 He broke the gates of bronze, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.

17 Fools are afflicted, because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities.

18 Their soul abhors all manner of food, and they draw near to the gates of death.

19 Then they cry to Yahwah in their trouble, and He saves them out of their distresses.

20 He sends His Word, heals them, and delivers them from their destructions.

21 Oh that men would praise Yahwah for His lovingkindness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!

22 Let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with singing.

23 Those who go down to the sea in ships, who do business in great waters,

24 these see the works of Yahwah, and His wonders in the deep.

25 For He commands, and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up the waves thereof.

26 They mount up to the heavens, they go down again to the depths. Their soul melts away because of trouble.

27 They reel to and fro, stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits end.

28 Then they cry to Yahwah in their trouble, and He brings them out of their distresses.

29 He makes the storm a calm, so the waves thereof are still.

30 Then they are glad because they are quiet, so He brings them to their desired haven.

31 Oh that men would praise Yahwah for His lovingkindness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!

32 Let them exalt Him also in the assembly of the people, and praise Him in the seat of the elders.

33 He turns rivers into a wilderness, and watersprings into a thirsty ground,

34 a fruitful land into a salt desert, for the wickedness of those who dwell therein.

35 He turns a wilderness into a pool of water, and a dry land into watersprings.

36 There He makes the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city of habitation,

37 sow fields, plant vineyards, and get them fruits of increase.

38 He blesses them also, so they are multiplied greatly, and He does not suffer their cattle to decrease.

39 Again, they are diminished and bowed down through oppression, trouble, and sorrow.

40 He pours contempt upon princes, and causes them to wander in the waste, where there is no way.

41 Yet He sets the needy on high from affliction, and makes him families like a flock.

42 The upright will see it, be glad, and all iniquity will stop her mouth.

43 Whoso is wise gives heed to these things. They consider the lovingkindnesses of Yahwah.

Psalm 108

A Song, A Psalm of David.

1 My heart is fixed, O Yahwah. I sing, yea, I sing praises, even with my glory.

2 Awake, psaltery and harp, I myself will awake right early.

3 I give thanks to you, O Yahwah, among the peoples. I sing praises to you among the nations.

4 Your lovingkindness is great above the heavens. Your truth reaches to the skies.

5 Be exalted above the heavens, O Father, and your glory above all the earth.

6 That your beloved may be delivered, save with your right hand, and answer us.

7 Yahwah spoke in His holiness: I will exult. I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.

8 Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephrayim also is the defence of my head; Yahudah is my sceptre.

9 Moab is my washpot; I cast my shoe upon Edom; I shout over Philistia.

10 Who brings me into the fortified city? Who leads me to Edom?

11 Did you not cast us off, O Yahwah? You do not go forth with our hosts, O Yahwah.

12 Give us help against the adversary, for the help of man is vain.

13 Through Yahwah we will do valiantly. For He it is that will tread down our adversaries.

Psalm 109

For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1 Do not hold your peace, O Father of my praise.

2 The mouth of the wicked and the mouth of deceit are opened against me. They spoke to me with a lying tongue.

3 They compass me about also with words of hatred, and fight against me without a cause.

4 For my love they are my adversaries. But I give myself to prayer.

5 They reward me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

6 Set a wicked man over him, and let an adversary stand at his right hand.

7 When he is judged, let him come forth guilty. Let his prayer be turned into sin.

8 Let his days be few, and let another take his office.

9 Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.

10 Let his children be vagabonds, and beg. Let them seek their bread out of their desolate places.

11 Let the extortioner catch all he has. Let strangers make spoil of his labor.

12 Let there be none to extend kindness to him. Neither let there be any to have pity on his fatherless children.

13 Let his posterity be cut off. In the generation following let their name be blotted out.

14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with Yahwah. Let the sin of his mother not be blotted out.

15 Let them be before Yahwah continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth,

16 because he did not remember to show kindness, but persecuted the poor and needy man, and the broken in heart, to slay them.

17 Yea, he loved cursing, and it came to him. He did not delight in blessing, and it was far from him.

18 He clothed himself also with cursing as with his garment, and it came into his inward parts like water, like oil into his bones.

19 Let it be to him as the raiment wherewith he covers himself, and for the girdle wherewith he is girded continually.

20 This is the reward of my adversaries from Yahwah, and of those who speak evil against my soul.

21 But deal with me for your Name's sake, O Yahwah the Creator. Because your lovingkindness is good, deliver me.

22 For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.

23 I am gone like the shadow when it declines, I am tossed up and down as the locust.

24 My knees are weak through fasting. My flesh fails of fatness.

25 I am become also a reproach to them. When they see me, they shake their head.

26 Help me, O Yahwah my Father. Oh save me according to your lovingkindness,

27 that they may know this is your hand. That you, Yahwah, did it.

28 Let them curse, but bless you. When they arise, they will be put to shame, but your servant will rejoice.

29 Let my adversaries be clothed with dishonor, and let them cover themselves with their own shame as with a robe.

30 I give great thanks to Yahwah with my mouth. Yea, I praise Him among the multitude.

31 He stands at the right hand of the needy, to save him from those who judge his soul.

Psalm 110

A Psalm of David.

1 Yahwah says to my Master [Messiyah]: Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.

2 Yahwah will send forth the rod of your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of your enemies.

3 Your people offer themselves willingly in the day of your power, in holy array. Out of the womb of the morning you have the dew of your youth.

4 Yahwah swore, and will not relent. You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.

5 Yahwah at your right hand will strike through kings in the day of His wrath.

6 He will judge among the nations, He will fill the places with dead bodies, He will strike through the head in many countries.

7 He drinks of the brook in the way. Therefore He lifts up the head.

Psalm 111

1 Hallelu Yah. I give thanks to Yahwah with my whole heart, in the council of the upright, and in the congregation.

2 The works of Yahwah are great, sought out of all those who have pleasure therein.

3 His work is honor and majesty, and His righteousness endures forever.

4 He makes His wonderful works to be remembered. Yahwah is gracious and compassionate.

5 He gives food to those who fear Him. He will ever be mindful of His covenant.

6 He shows His people the power of His works, in giving them the heritage of the nations.

7 The works of His hands are truth and justice. All His precepts are sure.

8 They are established for ever and ever. They are done in truth and uprightness.

9 He sent redemption to His people. He commanded His covenant forever. Holy and reverent is His Name.

10 The fear of Yahwah is the beginning of wisdom. A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever.

Psalm 112

1 Hallelu Yah. Blessed is the man who fears Yahwah, who delights greatly in His commandments.

2 His seed will be mighty upon earth. The generation of the upright will be blessed.

3 Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.

4 To the upright there arises light in the darkness. He is gracious, merciful, and righteous.

5 Well it is with the man who deals graciously and lends, he will maintain his cause in judgment.

6 He will never be moved. The righteous will be had in everlasting remembrance.

7 He is not afraid of evil tidings. His heart is fixed, trusting in Yahwah.

8 His heart is established, he is not afraid, until he see his desire upon his adversaries.

9 He disperses, he gives to the needy. His righteousness endures for ever. His horn is exalted with honor.

10 The wicked will see it, and be grieved. He will gnash with his teeth, and melt away. The desire of the wicked will perish.

Psalm 113

1 Hallelu Yah. Praise, O you servants of Yahwah, praise the Name of Yahwah.

2 Blessed is the Name of Yahwah from this time forth, and for evermore.

3 Yahwah's Name is to be praised from the rising of the sun to the going down of the same.

4 Yahwah is high above all nations, and His glory above the heavens.

5 Who is like to Yahwah our Father, who has His seat on high?

6 Who humbles Himself to behold the things that are in heaven and in the earth?

7 He raises up the poor out of the dust, and lifts up the needy from the dunghill,

8 that He may set him with princes, even with the princes of His people.

9 He makes the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Hallelu Yah.

Psalm 114

1 When Yisrayah went forth out of Egypt, the house of Yaacob from a people of strange language,

2 Yahudah became His sanctuary, Yisrayah His dominion.

3 The sea saw it, and fled. The Jordan was driven back.

4 The mountains skipped like rams, the little hills like lambs.

5 What ails you, O you sea, that you flee? You Jordan, that you turn back?

6 You mountains, that you skip like rams? You little hills, like lambs?

7 Tremble, you earth, at the presence of the Master, at the presence of Yahwah of Yaacob,

8 who turned the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a fountain of waters.

Psalm 115

1 Not to us, O Yahwah, not to us, but give glory to your Name, for your lovingkindness, and for your truth's sake.

2 Why should the nations say: Where is their Father now?

3 Our Father is in the heavens. He did whatsoever He pleased.

4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.

5 They have mouths, but they do not speak. They have eyes, but they do not see.

6 They have ears, but they do not hear. They have noses, but they do not smell.

7 They have hands, but they do not handle. They have feet, but they do not walk. Neither do they speak through their throat.

8 Those who make them will be like to them. Yea, everyone that trusts in them.

9 O Yisrayah, trust in Yahwah, He is your help, and your shield.

10 O house of Aaron, trust in Yahwah, He is your help, and your shield.

11 You who fear Yahwah, trust in Yahwah, He is your help, and your shield.

12 Yahwah is mindful of us, He blesses us, He blesses the house of Yisrayah, He blesses the house of Aaron.

13 He blesses those who fear Yahwah, both small and great.

14 Yahwah increase you more and more, you and your children.

15 Blessed are you of Yahwah, who made heaven and earth.

16 The heavens are the heavens of Yahwah [An], but Yah [Ea] gave the earth to the children of men.

17 The dead do not praise Yah, neither any that go down into silence.

18 But we will bless Yah from this time forth and for evermore. Hallelu Yah.

Psalm 116

1 I love Yahwah, because He hears my voice, and my supplications.

2 He inclines His ear to me, therefore I call upon Him as long as I live.

3 The cords of death compass me, and the pains of the grave got hold upon me, I found trouble and sorrow.

4 Then I called upon the Name of Yahwah: O Yahwah, I beseech you, deliver my soul.

5 Gracious is Yahwah, and righteous. Yea, our Father is merciful.

6 Yahwah preserves the simple. I was brought low, and He saved me.

7 Return to your rest, O my soul, for Yahwah dealt bountifully with you.

8 You deliver my soul from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.

9 I walk before Yahwah in the land of the living.

10 I believe, for I will speak, I was greatly afflicted,

11 I said in my haste, all men are liars.

12 What will I render to Yahwah for all His benefits toward me?

13 I take the cup of salvation, and call upon the Name of Yahwah.

14 I pay my vows to Yahwah, yea, in the presence of all His people.

15 Precious in the sight of Yahwah is the death of His saints.

16 O Yahwah, truly I am your servant. I am your servant, the son of your handmaid, you loosed my bonds.

17 I offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving to you, and call upon the Name of Yahwah.

18 I pay my vows to Yahwah, yea, in the presence of all His people,

19 In the courts of Yahwah's house, in the midst of you, O Yerusalem. Hallelu Yah.

Psalm 117

1 O praise Yahwah, all you nations. Laud him, all you peoples.

2 For His lovingkindness is great toward us. The truth of Yahwah endures forever. Hallelu Yah.

Psalm 118

1 Oh give thanks to Yahwah, for He is good, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

2 Let Yisrayah now say: His lovingkindness endures forever.

3 Let the house of Aaron now say: His lovingkindness endures forever.

4 Let them now that fear Yahwah say: His lovingkindness endures forever.

5 Out of my distress I called upon Yah. Yah answered me and set me in a large place.

6 Yahwah is on my side, I will not fear. What can man do to me?

7 Yahwah is on my side among those who help me. Therefore I will see my desire upon those who hate me.

8 It is better to take refuge in Yahwah than to put confidence in man.

9 It is better to take refuge in Yahwah than to put confidence in princes.

10 All nations compassed me about. In the Name of Yahwah I cut them off.

11 They compassed me about, yea, they compassed me about. In the Name of Yahwah I cut them off.

12 They compassed me about like bees. They are quenched as the fire of thorns. In the Name of Yahwah I cut them off.

13 You thrust sore at me that I might fall. But Yahwah helped me.

14 Yah is my strength, and song. He is become my salvation.

15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous. The right hand of Yahwah does valiantly.

16 The right hand of Yahwah is exalted. The right hand of Yahwah does valiantly.

17 I will not die, but live, and declare the works of Yah.

18 Yah chastened me sore, but He did not give me over to death.

19 Open the gates of righteousness to me, I will enter into them, I give thanks to Yah.

20 This is the gate of Yahwah, the righteous enter into it.

21 I give thanks to you, for you answered me, and are become my salvation.

22 The stone the builders rejected is become the head of the corner.

23 This is Yahwah's doing. It is marvellous in our eyes.

24 This is the day Yahwah made, we rejoice, and are glad in it.

25 Save now, we beseech you, O Yahwah. O Yahwah, we beseech you, send prosperity now.

26 Blessed is he who comes in the Name of Yahwah. We bless you out of the house of Yahwah.

27 Yahwah is our Master. He gives us light. Bind the sacrifice with cords, even to the horns of the altar.

28 You are Yahwah. I give thanks to you. You are my Father, I exalt you.

29 Oh give thanks to Yahwah. He is good. His lovingkindness endures forever.

Psalm 119

ALEPH.

1 Blessed are those who are perfect in The Way, who walk in the law of Yahwah.

2 Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, that seek Him with the whole heart.

3 Yea, they do no unrighteousness, they walk in His ways.

4 You commanded us your precepts, that we should observe them diligently.

5 Oh that my ways were established to observe your statutes!

6 Then I will not be put to shame, when I respect all your commandments.

7 I give thanks to you with uprightness of heart, when I learn your righteous judgments.

8 I observe your statutes. Oh, do not forsake me utterly.

BETH.

9 Wherewith will a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to your Word.

10 I seek you with my whole heart. Oh, let me not wander from your commandments.

11 I laid up your Word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

12 Blessed are you, O Yahwah, teach me your statutes.

13 With my lips I declare all the ordinances of your mouth.

14 I rejoice in the way of your testimonies, as much as in all riches.

15 I meditate on your precepts, and respect to your ways.

16 I delight myself in your statutes, I will not forget your Word.

GIMEL.

17 Deal bountifully with your servant, that I may live, so I can observe your Word.

18 Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.

19 I am a sojourner in the earth, do not hide your commandments from me.

20 My soul breaks for the longing it has to your ordinances at all times.

21 You rebuke the proud that are cursed, who wander from your commandments.

22 Take reproach and contempt away from me, for I keep your testimonies.

23 Princes sit and talk against me, but your servant meditates on your statutes.

24 Your testimonies are my delight, and my counsellors.

DALETH.

25 My soul cleaves to the dust. Quicken me according to your Word.

26 I declare my ways, and you answer me. Teach me your statutes.

27 Make me to understand the way of your precepts. So I will meditate on your wondrous works.

28 My soul melts for heaviness. Strengthen me according to your Word.

29 Remove the way of falsehood from me. Graciously grant me your law and instruction.

30 I choose the way of faithfulness, I set your ordinances before me.

31 I cleave to your testimonies. O Yahwah, do not put me to shame.

32 I run the way of your commandments, when you enlarge my heart.

HE.

33 O Yahwah, teach me the way of your statutes. I will keep it to the end.

34 Give me understanding, and I will keep your law. Yea, I will observe it with my whole heart.

35 Make me to go in the path of your commandments. For therein I delight.

36 Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to covetousness.

37 Turn away my eyes from beholding vanity, and quicken me in your ways.

38 Confirm to your servant your Word, which is in order to the fear of you.

39 Turn away my reproach whereof I am afraid. For your ordinances are good.

40 Behold, I long after your precepts. Quicken me in your righteousness.

WAW.

41 Let your lovingkindnesses also come to me, O Yahwah. Even your salvation, according to your Word.

42 So I will have an answer for him who reproaches me. For I trust in your Word.

43 Do not take the word of truth utterly out of my mouth. For I hope in your ordinances.

44 So I observe your law continually for ever and ever.

45 I walk at liberty, for I seek your precepts.

46 I speak of your testimonies before kings, and will not be put to shame.

47 I delight myself in your commandments, which I love.

48 I lift up my hands also to your commandments, which I love. I meditate on your statutes.

ZAYIN.

49 Remember the word to your servant, because you made me hope.

50 This is my comfort in my affliction, for your Word quickened me.

51 The proud had me greatly in derision. Yet I did not swerve from your law.

52 I remember your ordinances of old, O Yahwah, and comfort myself.

53 Hot indignation takes hold upon me, because of the wicked that forsake your law.

54 Your statutes are my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.

55 I remember your Name in the night, O Yahwah, and observe your law.

56 This I have, because I keep your precepts.

HETH.

57 Yahwah is my portion, I said I would observe your words.

58 I entreated your favor with my whole heart. Be merciful to me according to your Word.

59 I thought on my ways, and turned my feet to your testimonies.

60 I made haste, and did not delay to observe your commandments.

61 The cords of the wicked wrapped me round, but I did not forget your law.

62 At midnight I rise to give thanks to you because of your righteous ordinances.

63 I am a companion of all those who fear you, and of those who observe your precepts.

64 O Yahwah, the earth is full of your lovingkindness. Teach me your statutes.

TETH.

65 You deal well with your servant, O Yahwah, according to your Word.

66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe in your commandments.

67 I went astray before I was afflicted. But now I observe your Word.

68 You are good, and do good. Teach me your statutes.

69 The proud forge a lie against me. I keep your precepts with my whole heart.

70 Their heart is as fat as grease. But I delight in your law.

71 It is good for me that I am afflicted, that I may learn your statutes.

72 The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver.

YODH.

73 Your hands made me, and fashioned me. Give me understanding, that I may learn your commandments.

74 Those who fear you will see me, and be glad, because I hope in your Word.

75 O Yahwah, I know your judgments are righteous, and that you afflict me in faithfulness.

76 I pray you, let your lovingkindness be for my comfort, according to your word to your servant.

77 Let your tender mercies come to me, that I may live. For your law is my delight.

78 Let the proud be put to shame, for they overthrow me wrongfully. But I meditate on your precepts.

79 Let those who fear you turn to me. They will know your testimonies.

80 Let my heart be perfect in your statutes, that I am not put to shame.

KAPH.

81 My soul faints for your salvation. But I hope in your Word.

82 My eyes fail for your Word, while I say: When will you comfort me?

83 I am become like a wine-skin in the smoke. Yet I do not forget your statutes.

84 How many are the days of your servant? When will you execute judgment on those who persecute me?

85 The proud dig pits for me, who are not according to your law.

86 All your commandments are faithful. They persecute me wrongfully, help me.

87 They had almost consumed me upon earth. But I did not forsake your precepts.

LAMEDH.

88 Quicken me after your lovingkindness. So I will observe the testimony of your mouth.

89 Your Word is settled in heaven forever, O Yahwah.

90 Your faithfulness is to all generations. You established the earth, and it abides.

91 They abide today according to your ordinances. All things are your servants.

92 Unless your law was my delight, I should then have perished in my affliction.

93 I will never forget your precepts, for you quickened me with them.

94 I am yours, save me, for I seek your precepts.

95 The wicked wait for me, to destroy me. But I consider your testimonies.

MEM.

96 I see an end of all perfection. But your commandments are exceeding broad.

97 Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.

98 Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me.

99 I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation.

100 I understand more than the aged, because I keep your precepts.

101 I refrain my feet from every evil way, that I might observe your Word.

102 I do not turn aside from your ordinances. For you taught me.

103 How sweet are your words to my taste! Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

104 Through your precepts I get understanding. Therefore I hate every false way.

NUN.

105 Your word is a lamp to my feet, and light to my path.

106 I swore, and confirm it, that I will observe your righteous ordinances.

107 I am afflicted very much. Quicken me, O Yahwah, according to your Word.

108 I beseech you, accept the freewill-offerings of my mouth, O Yahwah, and teach me your ordinances.

109 My soul is continually in my hand, yet I do not forget your law.

110 The wicked laid a snare for me, yet I do not go astray from your precepts.

111 I take your testimonies as a heritage forever, for they are the rejoicing of my heart.

112 I incline my heart to perform your statutes forever, even to the end.

SAMEKH.

113 I hate those who are of a double mind. But your law I do love.

114 You are my hiding-place, and my shield. I hope in your Word.

115 Depart from me, you evil-doers, that I may keep the commandments of my Father.

116 Uphold me according to your Word, that I may live. Let me not be ashamed of my hope.

117 Hold me up, and I will be safe. I will have respect to your statutes continually.

118 You set at nought all those who err from your statutes. For their deceit is falsehood.

119 You put away all the wicked of the earth like dross. Therefore I love your testimonies.

120 My flesh trembles for fear of you. I am afraid of your judgments.

AYIN.

121 I do justice and righteousness. Do not leave me to my oppressors.

122 Be surety for your servant for good. Let the proud not oppress me.

123 My eyes fail for your salvation, and for your righteous Word.

124 Deal with your servant according to your lovingkindness, and teach me your statutes.

125 I am your servant, give me understanding, that I may know your testimonies.

126 It is time for Yahwah to work, for they made your law void.

127 Therefore I love your commandments above gold, yea, above fine gold.

128 Therefore I esteem all your precepts concerning all things to be right. I hate every false way.

PE.

129 Your testimonies are wonderful, therefore my soul keeps them.

130 The opening of your words gives light, it gives understanding to the simple.

131 I open my mouth wide, and pant, for I long for your commandments.

132 Turn to me, and have mercy upon me, as you used to do to those that love your Name.

133 Establish my footsteps in your Word, do not let any iniquity have dominion over me.

134 Redeem me from the oppression of man. So I will observe your precepts.

135 Make your face to shine upon your servant, and teach me your statutes.

136 Streams of water run down my eyes, because they do not observe your law.

TSADHE.

137 Righteous are you, O Yahwah, and upright are your judgments.

138 You commanded your testimonies in righteousness and very faithfulness.

139 My zeal consumes me, because my adversaries forgot your words.

140 Your Word is very pure. Therefore your servant loves it.

141 I am small and despised. Yet I do not forget your precepts.

142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and your law is truth.

143 Trouble and anguish take hold on me. Yet your commandments are my delight.

144 Your testimonies are righteous forever. Give me understanding, and I will live.

QOPH.

145 I call with my whole heart. Answer me, O Yahwah. I keep your statutes.

146 I call to you. Save me. I observe your testimonies.

147 I anticipate the dawning of the morning, and cry. I hope in your words.

148 My eyes anticipate the night-watches, that I might meditate on your Word.

149 Hear my voice according to your lovingkindness. O Yahwah, quicken me according to your ordinances.

150 They draw near who follow after wickedness. They are far from your law.

151 You are near, O Yahwah. All your commandments are truth.

152 Of old I know from your testimonies, that you founded them forever.

RESH.

153 Consider my affliction, and deliver me. For I do not forget your law.

154 Plead my cause, and redeem me. Quicken me according to your Word.

155 Salvation is far from the wicked. They do not seek your statutes.

156 Great are your tender mercies, O Yahwah. Quicken me according to your ordinances.

157 Many are my persecutors and my adversaries. Yet I do not swerve from your testimonies.

158 I behold the treacherous, and am grieved, because they do not observe your Word.

159 Consider how I love your precepts. Quicken me, O Yahwah, according to your lovingkindness.

160 The sum of your Word is truth. Every one of your righteous ordinances endures forever.

SHIN.

161 Princes persecute me without a cause. But my heart stands in awe of your words.

162 I rejoice at your Word, as one that finds great spoil.

163 I hate and abhor falsehood. But your law I love.

164 Seven times a day I praise you, because of your righteous ordinances.

165 Great peace have those who love your law. They have no occasion of stumbling.

166 I hope for your salvation, O Yahwah. I do your commandments.

167 My soul observes your testimonies. I love them exceedingly.

168 I observe your precepts and your testimonies. All my ways are before you.

TAW.

169 Let my cry come near before you, O Yahwah. Give me understanding according to your Word.

170 Let my supplication come before you. Deliver me according to your Word.

171 Let my lips utter praise. Teach me your statutes.

172 Let my tongue sing of your Word. All your commandments are righteousness.

173 Let your hand be ready to help me. I choose your precepts.

174 I long for your salvation, O Yahwah. Your law is my delight.

175 Let my soul live, and it will praise you. Let your ordinances help me.

176 I went astray like a lost sheep. Seek your servant. For I do not forget your commandments.

Psalm 120

A Song of Ascents.

1 In my distress I cried to Yahwah, and He answered me.

2 Deliver my soul, O Yahwah, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.

3 What will be given to you, and what will be done more to you, you deceitful tongue?

4 Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.

5 Woe is me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar!

6 My soul has long had her dwelling with him who hates peace.

7 I am for peace. But when I speak, they are for war.

Psalm 121

A Song of Ascents.

1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains. From where will my help come?

2 My help comes from Yahwah, who made heaven and earth.

3 He will not suffer your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber.

4 Behold, He who keeps Yisrayah will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 Yahwah is your keeper. Yahwah is your shade upon your right hand.

6 The sun will not smite you by day, nor the moon by night.

7 Yahwah keeps you from all evil, He keeps your soul.

8 Yahwah keeps your going out and your coming in from this time forth and for evermore.

Psalm 122

A Song of Ascents; of David.

1 I was glad when they said to me: Let us go to the house of Yahwah.

2 Our feet are standing within your gates, O Yerusalem,

3 Yerusalem, that are builded as a city that is compact together,

4 Where the tribes go up, even the tribes of Yah, for an ordinance for Yisrayah, to give thanks to the Name of Yahwah.

5 Thrones for judgment are set there, the thrones of the house of David.

6 Pray for the peace of Yerusalem. Those who love you will prosper.

7 Peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces.

8 For my brethren and companions' sakes, I now say: Peace be within you.

9 I seek your good for the sake of the house of Yahwah our Father.

Psalm 123

A Song of Ascents.

1 I lift up my eyes to you, O you who sit in the heavens.

2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to Yahwah our Father, until He has mercy upon us.

3 Have mercy upon us, O Yahwah, have mercy upon us. For we are exceedingly filled with contempt.

4 Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scoffing of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.

Psalm 124

A Song of Ascents; of David.

1 If it was not Yahwah who was on our side, let Yisrayah now say:

2 If it was not Yahwah who was on our side, when men rose up against us,

3 then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us,

4 then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul,

5 then the proud waters would have gone over our soul.

6 Blessed is Yahwah, who did not give us as a prey to their teeth.

7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers. The snare is broken, and we are escaped.

8 Our help is in the Name of Yahwah, who made heaven and earth.

Psalm 125

A Song of Ascents.

1 Those who trust in Yahwah are as mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.

2 As the mountains are round about Yerusalem, so Yahwah is round about His people from this time forth, and for evermore.

3 The sceptre of wickedness will not rest upon the lot of the righteous, that the righteous do not put forth their hands to iniquity.

4 Do good, O Yahwah, to those that are good, and to those who are upright in their hearts.

5 But as for such as turn aside to their crooked ways, Yahwah leads them forth with the workers of iniquity. Peace be upon Yisrayah.

Psalm 126

A Song of Ascents.

1 Yahwah brought back those who returned to Zion, we were like to those who dream.

2 Our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations: Yahwah did great things for them.

3 Yahwah does great things for us, whereof we are glad.

4 Turn our captivity again, O Yahwah, as the streams in the South.

5 Those who sow in tears will reap in joy.

6 He that goes forth and weeps, bearing seed for sowing, will doubtless come again with joy, bringing his sheaves with him.

Psalm 127

A Song of Ascents; of Solomon.

1 Except Yahwah build the house, those who build it labor in vain. Except Yahwah keep the city, the watchman wakes but in vain.

2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to take rest late, to eat the bread of toil. For so He gives sleep to His beloved.

3 Lo, children are a heritage of Yahwah. The fruit of the womb is His reward.

4 As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of youth.

5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them. They will not be put to shame when they speak with their enemies in the gate.

Psalm 128

A Song of Ascents.

1 Blessed is everyone who fears Yahwah, who walks in His ways.

2 You eat the labor of your hands. Happy you are, and it is well with you.

3 Your wife is as a fruitful vine, in the innermost parts of your house, your children like olive plants, round about your table.

4 Behold, thus the man who fears Yahwah is blessed.

5 Yahwah bless you out of Zion. See the good of Yerusalem all the days of your life.

6 Yea, see your children's children. Peace be upon Yisrayah.

Psalm 129

A Song of Ascents.

1 Many a time they afflicted me from my youth up. Let Yisrayah now say:

2 Many a time they afflicted me from my youth up, yet they did not prevail against me.

3 The plowers plowed upon my back, they made their furrows long.

4 Yahwah is righteous, He cut the cords of the wicked asunder.

5 Let them be put to shame, and turned backward, all those who hate Zion.

6 Let them be as the grass upon the housetops, which withers before it grows up,

7 wherewith the reaper does not fill his hand, nor he that binds sheaves fill his bosom.

8 Neither do those who go by say: The blessing of Yahwah is upon you. We bless you in the Name of Yahwah.

Psalm 130

A Song of Ascents.

1 I cry to you out of the depths, O Yahwah.

2 Yahwah, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.

3 If you, Yah, should mark iniquities, O Yahwah, who could stand?

4 But there is forgiveness with you, that you may be feared.

5 I wait for Yahwah, my soul waits. I hope in His Word.

6 My soul waits for Yahwah more than watchmen wait for the morning. Yea, more than watchmen for the morning.

7 O Yisrayah, hope in Yahwah. For there is lovingkindness with Yahwah. With Him is plenteous redemption.

8 He will redeem Yisrayah from all his iniquities.

Psalm 131

A Song of Ascents; of David.

1 Yahwah, my heart is not haughty, nor my eyes lofty. Neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too wonderful for me.

2 Surely I still and quiet my soul. Like a weaned child with his mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me.

3 O Yisrayah, hope in Yahwah from this time forth, and for evermore.

Psalm 132

A Song of Ascents.

1 Yahwah, remember for David all his affliction.

2 How he swore to Yahwah, and vowed to the Mighty One of Yaacob:

3 Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed,

4 I will not give sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids,

5 Until I find out a place for Yahwah, a tabernacle for the Mighty One of Yaacob.

6 Lo, we heard of it in Ephrathah, we found it in the field of the wood.

7 We go into His tabernacles, we worship at His footstool.

8 Arise, O Yahwah, into your resting-place. You, and the ark of your strength.

9 Let your priest be clothed with righteousness, and let your saints shout for joy.

10 For your servant David's sake, do not turn away the face of your anointed.

11 Yahwah swore to David in truth, He will not turn from it: Of the fruit of your body I will set upon your throne,

12 if your children keep my covenant and my testimony that I teach them, their children also will sit upon your throne for evermore.

13 For Yahwah chose Zion. He desired it for His habitation.

14 This is my resting-place forever. Here I dwell, for I desire it.

15 I bless her provision abundantly, I satisfy her poor with bread.

16 I clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will shout aloud for joy.

17 There I make the horn of David to bud, I ordained a lamp for my anointed.

18 I clothe his enemies with shame. But upon himself his crown will flourish.

Psalm 133

A Song of Ascents; of David.

1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

2 It is like the precious oil upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard, that came down upon the skirt of his garments,

3 like the dew of Hermon, that comes down upon the mountains of Zion. Yahwah commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

Psalm 134

A Song of Ascents.

1 Behold, bless Yahwah, all you servants of Yahwah, who stand in the house of Yahwah by night.

2 Lift up your hands to the sanctuary, and bless Yahwah.

3 Yahwah bless you out of Zion, even He who made heaven and earth.

Psalm 135

1 Hallelu Yah. Praise the Name of Yahwah. Praise Him, O you servants of Yahwah,

2 you who stand in the house of Yahwah, in the courts of the house of our Father.

3 Hallelu Yah. Yahwah is good, sing praises to His Name, for it is pleasant.

4 Yah chose Yaacob to Himself, and Yisrayah for His own possession.

5 I know Yahwah is great, our Father is above all gods.

6 Whatsoever Yahwah pleases, that He does, in heaven, in earth, in the seas, and in all deeps.

7 Who causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth, who makes lightnings for the rain, who brings forth the wind out of his treasuries,

8 who smote the first-born of Egypt, both of man and beast,

9 who sent signs and wonders into the midst of you, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants,

10 who smote many nations, and slew mighty kings

11 (Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan),

12 and gave their land for a heritage, a heritage to Yisrayah His people?

13 O Yahwah, your Name endures forever, your memorial Name, O Yahwah, throughout all generations.

14 Yahwah judges His people, and repents Himself concerning His servants.

15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.

16 They have mouths, but they do not speak. They have eyes, but they do not see.

17 They have ears, but they do not hear. Neither is there any breath in their mouths.

18 Those who make them are like to them. Yea, everyone that trusts in them.

19 O house of Yisrayah, bless Yahwah. O house of Aaron, bless Yahwah.

20 O house of Levi, bless Yahwah. You who fear Yahwah, bless Yahwah.

21 Blessed is Yahwah out of Zion, who dwells at Yerusalem. Hallelu Yah.

Psalm 136

1 Oh give thanks to Yahwah, for He is good, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

2 Oh give thanks to Yahwah our Father, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

3 Oh give thanks to the Master of masters, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

4 To Him who does great wonders alone, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

5 To Him who made the heavens by understanding, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

6 To Him who spread forth the earth above the waters, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

7 To Him who made great lights, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

8 The sun to rule by day, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

9 The moon and stars to rule by night, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

10 To Him who smote Egypt in their first-born, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

11 And brought Yisrayah out from among them, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

12 With a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

13 To Him who divided the Red Sea in sunder, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

14 And made Yisrayah to pass through the middle of it, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

15 But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red Sea, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

16 To Him that led His people through the wilderness, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

17 To Him that smote great kings, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

18 Slew famous kings, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

19 Sihon king of the Amorites, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

20 Og king of Bashan, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

21 And gave their land for a heritage, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

22 Even a heritage to Yisrayah His servant, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

23 Who remembered us in our low estate, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

24 He delivers us from our adversaries, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

25 He gives food to all flesh, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

26 Oh give thanks to Yahwah of heaven, for His lovingkindness endures forever.

Psalm 137

1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down. Yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.

2 Upon the willows in the midst thereof we hanged up our harps.

3 For there those who led us captive required songs of us, and those who wasted us required mirth of us, saying: Sing us one of the songs of Zion.

4 How can we sing Yahwah's song in a foreign land?

5 If I forget you, O Yerusalem, let my right hand forget her skill.

6 Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I do not remember you, if I do not prefer Yerusalem above my chief joy.

7 O Yahwah, remember the day of Yerusalem against the children of Edom, who said: Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.

8 O daughter of Babylon, that are to be destroyed, happy will he be, that rewards you as you served us.

9 Happy will he be, that takes and dashes your little ones against the rock.

Psalm 138

A Psalm of David.

1 I give you thanks with my whole heart. I sing praises to you before the gods.

2 I worship toward your holy temple, and give thanks to your Name for your lovingkindness, and for your truth. You magnified your Word above all your Name.

3 In the day I called you answered me, you encouraged me with strength in my soul.

4 All the kings of the earth give you thanks, O Yahwah, for they hear the words of your mouth.

5 Yea, they sing of the ways of Yahwah. For great is the glory of Yahwah.

6 For though Yahwah is high, yet He has respect to the lowly. But the haughty He knows from afar.

7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you revive me. You stretch forth your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand saves me.

8 Yahwah perfects what concerns me. Your lovingkindness, O Yahwah, endures forever. Do not forsake the works of your own hands.

Psalm 139

For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1 O Yahwah, you searched me, and know me.

2 You know my downsitting, and my uprising. You understand my thought afar off.

3 You search out my path, and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.

4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Yahwah, you know it altogether.

5 You beset me behind and before, and laid your hand upon me.

6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me. It is high, I cannot attain to it.

7 Where will I go from your Spirit? Or where will I flee from your presence?

8 If I ascend up into heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in the grave, behold, you are there.

9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

10 even there your hand will lead me, your right hand will hold me.

11 If I say: Surely the darkness overwhelms me, and the light about me will be night;

12 even the darkness does not hide from you, but the night shines as the day. The darkness and the light are both alike to you.

13 You formed my inward parts, you covered me in my mother's womb.

14 I give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works, and my soul knows that right well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in your book they were all written, even the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was none of them.

17 How precious also are your thoughts to me, O Yahwah! How great is the sum of them!

18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I awake, I am still with you.

19 Surely you will slay the wicked, O Yahwah. Depart from me therefore, you bloodthirsty men.

20 For they speak wickedly against you. Your enemies make your Name vain.

21 Do I not hate them, O Yahwah, who hate you? Am I not grieved with those that rise up against you?

22 I hate them with perfect hatred. They are become my enemies.

23 Search me, O Yahwah, and know my heart. Try me, know my thoughts.

24 See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in The Way everlasting.

Psalm 140

For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1 Deliver me, O Yahwah, from the evil man. Preserve me from violent men,

2 who devise mischiefs in their heart. Continually they gather themselves together for war.

3 They sharpen their tongue like a serpent. Adders' poison is under their lips. Selah [may it be so]

4 O Yahwah, keep me from the hands of the wicked. Preserve me from the violent man, who purposes to thrust my steps aside.

5 The proud hid a snare for me, and cords. They spread a net by the wayside. They set gins for me. Selah

6 I said to Yahwah: You are my Master. Give ear to the voice of my supplications, O Yahwah.

7 O Yahwah my Father, the strength of my salvation, you cover my head in the day of battle.

8 O Yahwah, do not grant the desires of the wicked. Do not further his evil device, lest they exalt themselves. Selah

9 As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.

10 Let burning coals fall upon them. Let them be cast into the fire, into deep pits, from where they will not rise.

11 An evil speaker is not established in the earth. Evil will hunt the violent man to overthrow him.

12 I know Yahwah maintains the cause of the afflicted, and justice for the needy.

13 Surely the righteous give thanks to your Name. The upright dwell in your presence.

Psalm 141

A Psalm of David.

1 Yahwah, I call upon you, make haste to me. Give ear to my voice, when I call to you.

2 Let my prayer be set forth as incense before you. The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

3 Set a watch, O Yahwah, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips.

4 Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, to practise deeds of wickedness with men that work iniquity. Let me not eat of their dainties.

5 Let the righteous smite me, it will be a kindness. Let him reprove me, it will be as oil upon the head. Let my head not refuse it, for even in their wickedness my prayer will continue.

6 Their judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock. They hear my words, for they are sweet.

7 As when one plows and cleaves the earth, our bones are scattered at the mouth of the grave.

8 My eyes are to you, O Yahwah my Father. I take refuge in you, do not leave my soul destitute.

9 Keep me from the snare they laid for me, and from the gins of the workers of iniquity.

10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I escape.

Psalm 142

Maschil of David, when he was in the cave; a Prayer.

1 I cry to Yahwah with my voice. I make supplication to Yahwah with my voice.

2 I pour out my complaint before Him, I show my trouble before Him.

3 When my spirit is overwhelmed within me, you know my path. In the way wherein I walk they hid a snare for me.

4 Look on my right hand, and see. For there is no man that knows me. Refuge fails me. No man cares for my soul.

5 I cry to you, O Yahwah. I say: You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.

6 Attend to my cry, for I am brought very low. Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are stronger than I.

7 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may give thanks to your Name. The righteous will compass me about, for you will deal bountifully with me.

Psalm 143

A Psalm of David.

1 Hear my prayer, O Yahwah, give ear to my supplications. Answer me in your faithfulness, and in your righteousness.

2 Do not enter into judgment with your servant. For in your sight no living man is righteous.

3 The enemy persecutes my soul. He smites my life down to the ground. He makes me to dwell in dark places, as those who are long dead.

4 Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me. My heart is desolate within me.

5 I remember the days of old. I meditate on all your doings. I muse on the work of your hands.

6 I spread forth my hands to you. My soul thirsts after you, as a weary land. Selah

7 Make haste to answer me, O Yahwah, my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me, lest I become like those who go down into the pit.

8 Cause me to hear your lovingkindness in the morning. For I trust in you. Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk, for I lift up my soul to you.

9 O Yahwah, deliver me from my enemies. I flee to you to hide me.

10 Teach me to do your will, for you are my Father, your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness.

11 O Yahwah, quicken me for your Name's sake. In your righteousness bring my soul out of trouble.

12 In your lovingkindness cut off my enemies, and destroy all those who afflict my soul. For I am your servant.

Psalm 144

A Psalm of David.

1 Blessed is Yahwah my rock, who teaches my hands to war, and my fingers to fight.

2 My lovingkindness, my fortress, my high tower, and my deliverer. My shield, He in whom I take refuge, who subdues my people under me.

3 Yahwah, what is man, that you take knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that you make account of him?

4 Man is like to vanity. His days are as a shadow that passes away.

5 O Yahwah, bow your heavens, and come down. Touch the mountains, and they smoke.

6 Cast forth lightning, and scatter them. Send out your arrows, and discomfit them.

7 Stretch forth your hand from above. Rescue me, and deliver me out of great waters, out of the hand of aliens,

8 whose mouth speaks deceit, and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

9 I sing a new song to you, O Father. Upon a psaltery of ten strings I sing praises to you.

10 You are He who gives salvation to kings, who rescues David His servant from the hurtful sword.

11 Rescue me. Deliver me out of the hand of aliens, whose mouth speaks deceit, and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

12 When our sons are as plants grown up in their youth, and our daughters as corner-stones hewn after the fashion of a palace,

13 when our garners are full, affording all manner of store, and our sheep bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our fields,

14 when our oxen are well laden, when there is no breaking in, and no going forth, no outcry in our streets,

15 happy is the people that is in such a case. Yea, happy is the people whose Father is Yahwah.

Psalm 145

A Psalm of praise; of David.

1 I extol you Yahwah, O King. I bless your Name for ever and ever.

2 Every day I bless you. I praise your Name for ever and ever.

3 Yahwah is great, and greatly to be praised. His greatness is unsearchable.

4 One generation lauds your works to another, and declares your mighty acts.

5 I meditate on the glorious majesty of your honor, and of your wondrous works.

6 Men speak of the might of your terrible acts, and I declare your greatness.

7 They utter the memory of your great goodness, and sing of your righteousness.

8 Yahwah is gracious, and merciful. Slow to anger, and of great lovingkindness.

9 Yahwah is good to all. His tender mercies are over all His works.

10 All your works give thanks to you, O Yahwah. Your saints bless you.

11 They will speak of the glory of your kingdom, and talk of your power, to make known His mighty acts to the sons of men, and the glory of the majesty of His kingdom.

12 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations.

13 Yahwah is faithful in all his words, and loving in all his deeds.

14 Yahwah upholds all who fall, and raises up all those who are bowed down.

15 The eyes of all wait for you, and you give them their food in due season.

16 You open your hand, and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

17 Yahwah is righteous in all His ways, and gracious in all His works.

18 Yahwah is near to all those who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.

19 He fulfills the desire of those who fear Him. He hears their cry, and saves them.

20 Yahwah preserves all those who love Him. But He destroys all the wicked.

21 My mouth speaks the praise of Yahwah. Let all flesh bless His holy Name for ever and ever.

Psalm 146

1 Hallelu Yah. Praise Yahwah, O my soul.

2 While I live I praise Yahwah. I sing praises to my Father while I have any being.

3 Do not put your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.

4 His breath goes forth, he returns to his earth. In that very day his thoughts perish.

5 Happy is he who has the Father of Yaacob for his help, whose hope is in Yahwah his Father,

6 who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps truth forever,

7 who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry. Yahwah looses the prisoners,

8 Yahwah opens the eyes of the blind, Yahwah raises up those who are bowed down, Yahwah loves the righteous,

9 Yahwah preserves the sojourners, He upholds the fatherless and widow, but the way of the wicked He turns upside down.

10 Yahwah reigns forever, your Father, O Zion, to all generations. Hallelu Yah.

Psalm 147

1 Hallelu Yah. It is good to sing praises to our Father. For it is pleasant, and praise is comely.

2 Yahwah builds up Yerusalem. He gathers together the outcasts of Yisrayah.

3 He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.

4 He counts the number of the stars, He calls them all by their names.

5 Great is our Master, and mighty in power, His understanding is infinite.

6 Yahwah upholds the meek, He brings the wicked down to the ground.

7 Sing to Yahwah with thanksgiving. Sing praises upon the harp to our Father,

8 who covers the heavens with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow upon the mountains.

9 He gives his food to the beast, and to the young ravens which cry.

10 He does not delight in the strength of the horse. He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.

11 Yahwah takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His lovingkindness.

12 Praise Yahwah, O Yerusalem. Praise your Father, O Zion.

13 He strengthens the bars of your gates, He blesses your children within you.

14 He makes peace in your borders, He fills you with the finest of the wheat.

15 He sends out his commandment upon earth, His word runs very swiftly.

16 He gives snow like wool, He scatters the hoar-frost like ashes.

17 He casts forth His ice like morsels, who can stand before His cold?

18 He sends out His Word, and melts them. He causes His wind to blow, and the waters flow.

19 He shows His Word to Yaacob, His statutes and His ordinances to Yisrayah.

20 He did not deal so with any nation. As for His ordinances, they do not know them. Hallelu Yah.

Psalm 148

1 Hallelu Yah. Praise Yahwah from the heavens. Praise Him in the heights.

2 Praise Him, all His malaks. Praise Him, all His host.

3 Praise Him, sun and moon. Praise Him, all you stars of light.

4 Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, and you waters that are above the heavens.

5 Let them praise the Name of Yahwah. He commanded, and they were created.

6 He established them for ever and ever. He made a decree which can not pass away.

7 Praise Yahwah from the earth, you sea-monsters, and all deeps.

8 Fire, hail, snow, vapor, and stormy wind, fulfilling His word.

9 Mountains and all hills, fruitful trees and all cedars,

10 beasts and all cattle, creeping things and flying birds,

11 kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all judges of the earth,

12 both young men and virgins, old men and children,

13 let them praise the Name of Yahwah, for His Name alone is exalted, His glory is above the earth and the heavens.

14 He lifts up the horn of His people, the praise of all His saints, even of the children of Yisrayah, a people near to Him. Hallelu Yah.

Psalm 149

1 Hallelu Yah. Sing a new song to Yahwah, and His praise in the assembly of the saints.

2 Let Yisrayah rejoice in Him who made him. Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.

3 Let them praise His Name in the dance. Let them sing praises to Him with timbrel and harp.

4 Yahwah takes pleasure in His people. He beautifies the meek with salvation.

5 Let the saints exult in glory. Let them sing for joy upon their beds.

6 Let the high praises of Yahwah be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand,

7 to execute vengeance upon the nations, punishments upon the peoples,

8 to bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron,

9 to execute upon them the judgment written, this honor all His saints have. Hallelu Yah.

Psalm 150

1 Hallelu Yah. Praise Yahwah in His sanctuary. Praise Him in the firmament of His power.

2 Praise Him for his mighty acts. Praise Him according to His excellent greatness.

3 Praise Him with trumpet sound. Praise Him with psaltery and harp.

4 Praise Him with timbrel and dance. Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe.

5 Praise Him with loud cymbals. Praise Him with high sounding cymbals.

6 Let everything that has breath praise Yah. Hallelu Yah.

Psalm 151

This psalm is ascribed to David as his own composition (though it is outside the number), after he fought in single combat with Goliath.

1 I was small among my brothers, the youngest in my father’s house. I tended my father’s sheep.

2 My hands made a harp, my fingers fashioned a lyre.

3 Who will tell Yahwah? Yahwah Himself, it is He who hears.

4 It was He who sent His messenger, took me from my father’s sheep, and anointed me with His anointing-oil.

5 My brothers are handsome and tall, but Yahwah was not pleased with them.

6 I went out to meet the Philistine, and he cursed me by his idols.

7 But I drew his own sword, I beheaded him, and took away disgrace from the people of Yisrayah.
