           " Noah's Ark ... "

PUZZLE:

It is true all the modern continents can be put together like a giant puzzle, into a super-continent often called Pangaea. It appears that the America's have separated from Africa and Europe, forming the modern Atlantic Ocean. Antarctica and Australia separated from Africa and Asia, forming the Indian Ocean. Africa separated from Eurasia, forming the Mediterranean Sea, the Persian Gulf, and the Red Sea. Further evidence comes from the seafloor topography. What we now call the Atlantic has a giant spreading event shown in the floor. All around the Pacific Ocean are deep troughs where the continents have been shoved out over the seafloor. This map is a very rough idea of how things might have been...

The old continent had no real mountains, it was very flat compared to today's world. So a rising water level could easily flood it. If we smoothed the earth out into a perfect sphere the ocean would cover the land with one-and-a-half miles of water. Way more than deep enough to submerge some hills. For you metric nuts, that means your house would now be under 2.4 kilometers of water. So we know how easy it would be for every part of the earth to be underwater. You can forget about those wild, ignorant claims that the Flood is scientifically impossible, because it could never have covered Mt Everest. Indeed, Mt Everest did not exist then. [And a fact most people do not know, Mt Everest is not the highest point on the earth. Chimborazo Volcano in Ecuador is the farthest point from the center of the planet.]

Also, you can imagine the violence of the spreading apart of the old continent into the current continents. As the old continent cracked in pieces (forming what we call the Atlantic and Indian Oceans today) enormous amounts of lava spewed forth to make a new seabed. And as the pieces of the old continent were pushed outwards, the front edges were crushed and then rode up over the old seafloor, causing subduction and mountain-building on a vast scale. Today the Pacific Ocean is ringed by what is called the "Ring of Fire", which is defined by volcanoes and earthquakes, trenches and mountains. It is the area where old seafloor is being subducted under continents. The continents get crumpled up and pushed up into very high mountains at these borders, such as the Andes Mtns. A similar thing happens when a car runs into a solid wall. As the car gets shorter, it crumples up and looks like an accordion.

You can imagine the tremendous volcanoes and earthquakes occurring very close together as these continents were pushed around in a couple months time. An interesting fact is that the South Pacific Ocean has a significant spreading event on it's floor, like with the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. With continents riding up on every side of it, the seafloor appears to have cracked and spread open. One will notice the strongly-curved underwater ridge connecting South America to Antarctica. It speaks of tremendous forces. Looking at the seafloor spreading event in the Indian Ocean it appears that Antarctica and Australia separated from Africa and Asia, forming the Indian Ocean.

When continents crash and rise, and oceans flow off of them into the newly deepened basins, destruction rules. Nothing survives. Everything is ground up into dust. As the ocean washes back and forth across the land, it deposits its load of sediment into fine layers, as we see today. When you look at my picture of Pip-Squeak Spire (which is in California), you can see that those layers were deposited quickly by an enormous flood of water, not by millions of years of dust.

FLOOD:

There are many people who imagine Noah's Flood to be a gentle affair, where the water level gradually went up and then down. They insist that the surface of the earth was not modified in any significant way. In that way, they can point to some place or other and decide it was the Garden of Eden, and so forth. Genesis does not specifically say the flood was violent. But it does say the surface of the earth was destroyed, and that certainly requires violence:

Genesis 6:13 I will destroy them [along] with the earth 9:11 never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.
And Psalms does say mountains and valleys will form during the flood, and that is pretty violent:
Psalm 104:6 You covered it with the deep as with a garment; the waters were standing above the mountains. 7 At Your rebuke they fled, at the sound of Your thunder they hurried away. 8 The mountains rose. The valleys sank down to the place which You established for them. 9 You set a boundary that they [the waters] may not pass over, so that they will not return to cover the earth.
The earth was destroyed, Eden is gone. Jubilees 23:19 says all the fish in the sea would be killed, which indicates some sort of violent activity in the oceans. The Sumerian flood story says: All the windstorms, exceedingly powerful, attacked as one. However, the Book of Jasher definitely tells us that the flood was violent enough to change the entire face of the earth, including a great earthquake. It definitely sounds like a major comet impact:
Jasher 6:11 And on that day, Yahwah caused the whole earth to shake. The sun darkened, the foundations of the earth raged, the whole earth was moved violently, the lightning flashed, the thunder roared, and all the fountains in the earth were broken up, such as was not known to the inhabitants before. Yahwah did this mighty act in order to terrify the sons of men, that there might be no more evil upon earth. 14 And all the fountains of the deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened, and the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights. 26 And the rain was still descending upon the earth, and it descended forty days and forty nights, and the waters prevailed greatly upon the earth. All flesh that was upon the earth or in the waters died, whether men, animals, beasts, creeping things or birds of the air, and there only remained Noah and those that were with him in the ark. 27 And the waters prevailed and they greatly increased upon the earth, and they lifted up the ark and it was raised from the earth. 28 And the ark floated upon the face of the waters, and it was tossed upon the waters so that all the living creatures within were turned about like pottage in a cauldron. 29 And great anxiety seized all the living creatures that were in the ark, and the ark was like to be broken. 30 And all the living creatures that were in the ark were terrified, and the lions roared, and the oxen lowed, and the wolves howled, and every living creature in the ark spoke and lamented in its own language, so that their voices reached to a great distance, and Noah and his sons cried and wept in their troubles. They were greatly afraid they had reached the gates of death. 31 Noah prayed to Yahwah, and cried to Him on account of this, and he said: O Yahwah help us, for we have no strength to bear this evil which has encompassed us, for the waves of the waters have surrounded us, mischievous torrents have terrified us, the snares of death have come before us.
Regarding the "fountains of the deep" which opened up and covered the earth with water, Psalms also mentions that water. Notice that the dry land sits on the waters underneath it:
Psalm 24:1 The earth is Yahwah's, and all its fullness, the earth and those who dwell therein. 2 For He has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the waters.
Some may think Noah's Flood was a mild affair. But imagine the huge rushing rivers caused by a worldwide rain event. Much erosion would have taken place. I saw rivers five feet deep from one local thunderstorm lasting only fifteen minutes. Yet the biggest thing was the opening of the fountains of the deep. This implies tremendous geological upheaval. And then later, when the waters drained off the earth into the oceans, and back underground, there would once again be highly erosive huge rushing rivers. If the Flood was a mild affair, certainly men and animals would have been able to survive by clinging to dead trees floating around.

STARTING OVER:

There could be a natural tendency of the human race to produce mainly female babies when the population is at a dangerous low. One male baby therefore becomes very important and valuable. He can grow up and impregnate lots of women. That way the population would be built back up as soon as possible.

And let's not forget the definitions of "son" and "begat". After Noah there are "sons" listed, and their years. That makes it apparent that they are direct father-son. But look at Matthew 1:1, where Yahushua the Messiyah is called "the son of David, the son of Abraham". Also check 2Chronicles 21:12 Thus says Yahwah, the Father of David your father, Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father (he has two 'fathers'). Also 2Kings 14:3 And he did that which was right in the eyes of Yahwah, yet not like David his father: he did according to all that Joash his father had done (once again, two fathers prove that father is not necessarily direct father-son, but can be ancestor-descendant). So it is obvious that a "son" is not necessarily a direct father-son like we say today. Also, "begat" is used in the genealogies. Begat can also be father-son, or have many generations of non-listed people in between.

IN THE BEGINNING:

The Laws Of Thermodynamics are conducive to the creation model of the origin of the universe. Perhaps some clarification is in order regarding what the scriptures say and imply about the earth's early history. That might help explain the scientific feasibility of the creation model:

So, the scriptures say the universe and the earth were created perfect. There was no bad weather anywhere, the atmosphere was stable. There was a vast layer of water vapor which covered the upper atmosphere (the waters above, through which stars were visible, has to be water vapor). That layer protected us from the sun. It also caused the atmospheric pressure at ground level to be maybe three times what it is now. The upper layer also caused a greenhouse effect which would moderate the global temperatures. Instead of the permanent freezing we see at the poles and the heat of the desert, the early earth would have been moderate and habitable almost from pole to pole. Scripture claims it never rained, the earth was watered by a mist that came up from the ground every night. Sometime after that is when it started raining - which could be after the curse, or after Noah's Flood. Since the rainbow was apparently never seen before Noah's Flood, I will presume that is when it first started raining. Scriptures claim that before Noah's flood humans lived a lot longer than they did after the flood.

Those claims imply the early earth was not structured as it is today. We can assume that there were no radioactive rocks at the surface, since everything was perfectly safe to life. Horticulturists know the best way to set up a planter is to have rocks in the bottom, with a layer of gravel over that, and a layer of sand, and a layer of dirt, and finally a layer of topsoil. This allows perfect drainage and transfer of water and air through the ground. The earth was probably set up similarly. The heavy elements which poison us (lead, uranium, etc) would have been deep in the earth and providing internal heat. The layers of rocks and gravel and sand would hold a tremendous amount of water. That water would be driven upwards at night as the earth's surface cooled radiationally into space, and some relatively small amount would penetrate the surface and come up as mist.

It would seem that the ocean covered a smaller area than it does now, and the single large continent which is described would have had more area than what we see today. The greenhouse atmosphere would have promoted lush vegetation over the whole land. There would have been no deserts. The highest mountains might've been a couple thousand feet elevation (no weather or rain, no clouds, and no rainbows). The earth could've easily supported way more people than it does now.

Scientists doing verifiable experiments claim that humans would live much longer if the atmospheric pressure were two or three times higher. For example infections would cure very rapidly. Lungs would function more efficiently. People would be healthier overall, grow larger, and live longer. We would be protected from Cosmic Rays and other radiation from space. Scientists who insist that pterodactyls and bumblebees should not be able to fly are assuming the atmospheric pressure which we observe today. Perhaps these critters were designed to fly in a thicker atmosphere? Scientists currently find fossils from pole to pole, and explain it away with silly claims like: what is now the north pole used to be near the equator, so not only have the continents been drifting, but the earth's rotational axis is unstable and sometimes changes.

CHANGES:

Now for Noah's flood, and the conversion of the earth from what presumably was, into what we see now. The change would require a catastrophic event. Comets have been drawn as swords by ancient civilizations, or as the hand of God. They were considered by many to be the way God executed judgment on the earth. All myth usually has a basis in fact. No doubt humans have experienced cometary "judgments" before.

So imagine if in Noah's time a huge comet comes in and heats the atmosphere and smashes a hole in the earth's crust. This event seems to have occurred at least 5,500 to 6,000 years ago, and possibly longer ago than that. When the atmosphere is heated it expands and cools, then contracts. It is also over-weighted with water by the addition of the head of the vaporized comet, and a large part of the tail of the comet. It would also be seeded with dust from the impact debris, and what was in the comet's tail, and volcanism. That all caused a disruption which forced the huge water-vapor canopy to collapse and rain down on the earth (for forty days and nights).

When the earth's crust cracks and moves, the vast underground stores of water are forced out of the ground (the scripture says: on that day all the fountains of the great deep were opened up). Geologists call the effect: liquefaction. It is observed during major earthquakes. This comet impact would have qualified as beyond major. The crust of the earth would have broken up and the pieces would be moving around (perhaps the comet hit somewhere near the middle of the single large continent and broke it into pieces). As the crust of the earth compressed, it would naturally force the water to the surface. The four sources of water (the comet, the water-vapor layer, the ocean, and the underground stores) would combine to cover the face of the earth. It would cover all the highest mountains then existing, which had to have been no more than what we call hills, nowadays (if they had high mountains, they would have had weather). As the underground stores of water were pushed to the surface, the continents would've also sunk lower into the ocean.

Eventually, the pieces of the crust would move around, crashing into each other, and raise new landforms. The crust was under water, saturated, and therefore more plastic than it is now. Mountains, and new continents, would rise up out of the now large and deep ocean in a short time. This was a violent catastrophe all around. Volcanism was rampant. Continents would have been seriously eroded by all of the water, and ground up by the collisions with each other. They would have left layers of freshly eroded ground all over the earth (we view such sedimentation layers in the Grand Canyon, for example). For anyone to come along today and say that the Garden Of Eden was here, or there, shows that they have no understanding of what Noah's flood was like (or they choose to deny it). This was a flood which completely destroyed the surface of the earth.

The ice age occurred at this point. The sudden loss of the thick atmosphere reduced the greenhouse effect. And with the great amount of dust from the volcanism blocking the sunlight, the poles would have quickly frozen up. As the new continents rose up and dried, there would undoubtedly have been enormous seas trapped on them. Eventually a sea would breach its containment and flow down to the ocean. Because the ground was still moist and soft, great canyons could have been eroded easily. That is apparently how the Grand Canyon formed.

Noah's Flood re-structured the way the earth's surface and atmosphere works. Now we have mountains and weather. We have rain and wind. Rainbows in clouds did not exist before, when the earth was watered every night by a mist coming up from the ground. There used to be a thick atmosphere protecting us from the sun, now we get too much radiation. Cosmic Rays cause mutations in animal cells, and cause us to live shorter lives. The atmosphere used to distribute the heat around the planet, now it is frozen at the poles.

DINOSAURS:

Of course, Noah's flood is the source of pretty much all of the fossils we see today, along with the geological strata, and coal and oil. Fossilization requires that the animal be buried deep underground almost instantly at the time of death (indeed, as the cause of death). Normally, animals which die on the surface of the earth quickly become consumed by live animals and bacteria and so forth long before they get covered in dirt. And even if they do somehow get buried in dirt the worms and so forth devour them (which is why humans like to bury themselves in coffins). Fossils don't usually form under normal conditions.

The reason we don't see human bones mingled with dinosaur bones in the fossil record is that they would've lived in different areas of the earth. The dinosaurs got washed away and buried, and the humans got washed away and buried in different areas and at different times of the flood. The huge biomass of plants and insects and microscopic life became today's coal seams and oil deposits. The plants and animals of the earth got washed away and buried in layers of sediments, and still more layers came in on top of those. The fossil record which we can see today seems more compatible with creation than it is with evolution! You only need billions of years if you think you need them.

Evolutionist scientists used to claim that dinosaurs would have been slow-moving beasts, based on body mass and the current atmospheric pressure. Now they ignore those findings because they are forced to admit that dinosaurs were fast and active beasts. Hunh? Well, a higher atmospheric pressure explains both findings neatly. With a higher pressure, animals can be much larger and still function. And since dinosaurs would've had trouble in our currently low atmospheric pressure (since the flood and the loss of the water vapor canopy), and the increased solar radiation which we currently endure because of the thinner atmosphere, they would've quickly died out - along with lots of other species. Evolutionist scientists look at the fossil record and point out that most species of animals were larger than they are nowadays (thereby supporting the creationist viewpoint!).

Humans and dinosaurs apparently lived at the same time. Genesis claims they were created on the same day, and then Adam was introduced to them and named them. The fire-breathing dragons recorded by the Chinese sound like eye-witness accounts of people meeting dinosaurs! Beowolf was a dinosaur hunter. See also:

Job chapters 40-41 behemoth, which sounds like a brontosaurus - and leviathon, the fire-breathing dragon which lives in the sea.

Isayah 30:6 fiery flying serpent = a fire-breathing dragon!

Jasher 80:14 And Yahwah sent fiery serpents,

Numbers 21:6 And Yahwah sent fiery serpents among the people,

Deuteronomy 8:15 who led you through the great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents and scorpions,

Isayah 27:1 In that day Yahwah with His hard and great and strong sword will punish leviathan the swift serpent, leviathan the crooked serpent. He will slay the monster that is in the sea.

OBJECTIONS:

Here are the main objections to the idea that the layers seen in the 'geologic column' were laid down in one year, the Flood year. Following each I give some possible explanations.

1) There can be hundreds of very fine layers:
Mt St Helens showed that a single event can lay down hundreds of layers at one time. These layers were laid down underwater. As the water flows across a surface the sediment in the water sorts itself by size and density, and then they all settle down nicely. Therefore you do not need to have a year per layer.

2) Tracks of terrestrial reptiles and mammals in old strata:
Presumably the tracks were all laid down after Noah's Flood. Notice they are all in the top layer, which is exposed to us.

3) What appear to be desiccation cracks (drying out of mud):
This can occur underwater. When the layers are partially consolidated, but not yet rock, they will crack when a spreading event occurs. Perhaps a layer is pulled apart horizontally, or pushed up vertically from below. Sometimes the layer which was on top after the Flood was later covered by another layer or three, but there has not been a lot of activity since the Flood.

4) Raindrop impressions:
Rapidly buried layers of sediment sometimes contain some air, which bubbles up and leaves impressions on the surface, imitating raindrops.

5) Fossil land plants (plants preserved upright where they grew):
This indicates rapid burial. Such plants and polystrate trees would have died and decayed long before all the sediments arrived if the millions of years scenario is true.

6) Fossil nests with hatched dinosaur eggs:
Dinosaurs existed after the Flood, made nests, and hatched young dinosaurs. There is ample historical documentation that dinosaurs existed alive as few as 200 years ago.

7) Large amounts of fossil charcoal (fusain):
A comet impact would have scorched the earth first, creating the charcoal, then bury everything in sediment.

8) Fossilized soil (paleosol):
Sure, large amounts of pre-existing soil got buried by the Flood and fossilized. Before the Flood seven-eighths of the earth was dry land. This land was very fertile and there was a tremendous amount of vegetation and enormous numbers of animals.

These "problems" are seen as such in the light of the presumably billions-of-years-old "geologic column". If there is currently a layer on the surface with trilobites, it is assumed that layer was once covered with all the successive layers, and then all those layers eroded away. But that is not necessary. There can be areas on the globe where the trilobite layer was the last deposited, the top layer. The so-called successive layers were not there, and have not needed to erode away. Just because there are other places on the globe where the trilobite layer was covered with layers of fish then reptiles then birds then mammals does not mean it was so everywhere. The uniformitarians need to say each layer was created over millions of years, so to them it is inconceivable that the trilobite layer was not covered over many times. They have to assume layer deposition occurred everywhere across the earth in similar fashion as eons went by. It might be deeper in some places, sure, but every place should have layers. These problems are only problems when you first assume evolution, and billions of years. They are not a problem for the Flood model.

REALITY:

And then, of course, there's the new findings among paleontologists. They are finding out fossils supposedly tens of millions of years old still have soft tissues on them!! The evolutionists agree that if an animal is buried very deep at the time of death, by some catastrophic event, so deep that even oxygen or bacteria won't get to the remains, then soft tissues can last about 20,000 years before turning to stone. So an American scientist has found soft tissues on Tyrannosaurus-Rex bones, thereby implying that particular animal (at least) died within the last 20,000 years. Which fits very well with the 'biblical' timeline. And that caused an uproar in the 'scientific' community. Every evolutionist wants to declare why a dinosaur bone cannot have soft tissues on them. But so far (as of 2009) the discovery has withstood severe scrutiny!

Regarding the reality of Noah's Flood, christians of today usually scoff at the idea, and say it is a parable, a story to teach a lesson. Christians claim to believe in the New Testament, and reject the Old. Yet the hero Yahshua Messiyah (who they mistakenly call: Jesus Christ) confirmed it is a literal fact that Noah entered the Ark and the Flood came and destroyed the world (Matthew 24:37-39 and Luke 17:26-27).
