The Book of Yahyl [Joel]

Yahyl means: Ea is our strength

Chapter 1

1 The Word of Yahwah came to Yahyl the son of Pethuyah.

2 Hear this, you old men, and give ear, all you inhabitants of the land. Was it like this in your days, or in the days of your fathers?

3 Tell your children of it, let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.

4 That which the palmer-worm left the locust ate, and that which the locust left the canker-worm ate, and that which the canker-worm left the caterpillar ate.

5 Awake, you drunkards, and weep. Wail, all you drinkers of wine, because the sweet wine is cut off from your mouth.

6 A nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number. His teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he has the jaw-teeth of a lioness. [Revelation 9:7-9]

7 He laid my vine waste, and barked my fig-tree. He made it clean bare, and cast it away, the branches are made white.

8 Lament like a virgin clothed with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.

9 The meal-offering and the drink-offering are cut off from the house of Yahwah. The priests, Yahwah's ministers, mourn.

10 The field is laid waste, the land mourns, the grain is destroyed, the new wine is dried up, the oil languishes.

11 Be confounded, O you husbandmen. Wail, O you vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley, for the harvest is perished.

12 The vine is withered, and the fig-tree languishes. The pomegranate-tree, the palm-tree, the apple-tree, even all the trees of the field are withered, for joy is withered away from the sons of men.

13 Clothe yourselves with sackcloth, and lament, you priests. Wail, you ministers of the altar. Come, lie all night in sackcloth, you ministers of my Father, for the meal-offering and the drink-offering are withheld from the house of your Father.

14 Sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the old men and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of Yahwah your Father, and cry to Yahwah.

15 Alas for the day! For the day of Yahwah is at hand, it comes as destruction from the Almighty.

16 Is the food not cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our Father?

17 The seeds rot under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down, the grain is withered.

18 How do the beasts groan! The herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture. Yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.

19 O Yahwah, I cry to you, The fire devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame burned all the trees of the field.

20 Yea, the beasts of the field pant to you, the water brooks are dried up, and the fire devoured the pastures of the wilderness.

Chapter 2

1 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sound an alarm in my holy mountain, let all the inhabitants of the land tremble. The day of Yahwah comes, it is near at hand.

2 A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, as the dawn spread upon the mountains. A great people and a strong. There has not ever been the like, neither will be any more after them, even to the years of many generations.

3 A fire devours before them, and a flame burns behind them. The land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness. Yea, and none has escaped them.

4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so do they run.

5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains do they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devours the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.

6 At their presence the peoples are in anguish, all faces are waxed pale.

7 They run like mighty men, they climb the wall like men of war, they march everyone on his ways, and they do not break their ranks.

8 Nor does one thrust another. They march everyone in his path, they burst through the weapons, and do not break off their course.

9 They leap upon the city, they run upon the wall, they climb up into the houses, they enter in at the windows like a thief.

10 The earth quakes before them, the heavens tremble, the sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining. {Revelation 6:12]

11 Yahwah utters His voice before His army. His camp is very great, he is strong that executes His word. The day of Yahwah is great and very terrible, who can abide it? [Revelation 6:17]

12 Yet even now turn to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning: says Yahwah.

13 Tear your heart, not your garments, and turn to Yahwah your Father. He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, abundant in lovingkindness, and repents Him of the evil.

14 Who knows whether he will not turn, repent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meal-offering and a drink-offering to Yahwah your Father?

15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly.

16 Gather the people, sanctify the assembly, assemble the old men, gather the children, and those who suck the breasts. Let the bridegroom go forth from his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.

17 Let the priests, the ministers of Yahwah, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say: Spare your people, O Yahwah, and not give your heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples: Where is their Father?

18 Then Yahwah was jealous for His land, and had pity on His people.

19 Yahwah answered, and said to His people: Behold, I will send you grain, new wine, oil, and you will be satisfied. I will not make you a reproach among the nations.

20 I will remove the northern army far off from you, and will drive it into a land barren and desolate, its forepart into the eastern sea, and its hinder part into the western sea. Its stench will come up, and its ill savor will come up, because it did great things.

21 Do not fear, O land, be glad and rejoice, for Yahwah does great things.

22 Do not be afraid, you beasts of the field, for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree bears its fruit, the fig-tree and the vine do yield their strength.

23 Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in Yahwah your Father, for He gives you the former rain in just measure. He causes the rain to come down for you, the former rain and the latter rain, in the first month.

24 The floors will be full of wheat, the vats will overflow with new wine and oil.

25 I will restore to you the years the locust, the canker-worm, the caterpillar, and the palmer-worm ate (my great army which I sent among you).

26 You will eat in plenty, be satisfied, and praise the Name of Yahwah your Father (who dealt wondrously with you), and my people will never be put to shame.

27 You will know I am in the midst of Yisrayah, that I am Yahwah your Father, and there is none else. My people will never be put to shame.

28 It will come to pass afterward [in the last days, Acts 2:17], I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.

29 Also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days I will pour out my Spirit.

30 I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: blood, fire, and pillars of smoke.

31 The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of Yahwah comes. [Revelation 6:12]

32 It will come to pass that whosoever calls on Yahwah [YHWH] will be delivered [Acts 2:21], for in mount Zion and in Yerusalem there will be those who escape, as Yahwah said, and among the remnant those Yahwah calls.

Chapter 3

1 Behold, in those days, and in that time, I will bring back the captivity of Yahudah and Yerusalem.

2 I will gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Yahushaphat. I will execute judgment upon them there for my people, for my heritage Yisrayah, who they scattered among the nations.

3 They parted my land, cast lots for my people, gave a boy for a harlot, and sold a girl for wine that they may drink.

4 Yea, and what are you to Me, O Tyre, Sidon, and all the regions of Philistia? Will you render Me a recompense? If you recompense Me, I will swiftly and speedily return your recompense upon your own head.

5 You took my silver and my gold, and carried my goodly precious things into your temples.

6 You sold the children of Yahudah and the children of Yerusalem to the sons of the Grecians, that you may remove them far from their border.

7 Behold, I will stir them up out of the place where you sold them, and will return your recompense upon your own head.

8 I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Yahudah, and they will sell them to the men of Sheba, to a nation far off. Yahwah spoke it.

9 Proclaim this among the nations: Prepare war, stir up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near, let them come up.

10 Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning-hooks into spears. Let the weak say: I am strong.

11 Hurry, come, all you nations round about, gather yourselves together. There cause your mighty ones to come down, O Yahwah.

12 Let the nations stir themselves up, and come up to the valley of Yahushaphat, for there I will sit to judge all the nations round about.

13 Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, tread, for the winepress is full. [Revelation 14:15] The vats overflow, for their wickedness is great.

14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of Yahwah is near in the valley of decision.

15 The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.

16 Yahwah roars from Zion, and utters His voice from Yerusalem. The heavens and the earth shake, but Yahwah is a refuge to His people, a stronghold to the children of Yisrayah.

17 So you will know I am Yahwah your Father, dwelling in Zion my holy mountain. Then Yerusalem will be holy, no strangers will pass through her any more.

18 It will come to pass in that day, the mountains will drop down sweet wine, the hills will flow with milk, and all the brooks of Yahudah will flow with waters. A fountain will come forth from the house of Yahwah, and water the valley of Shittim.

19 Egypt will be a desolation, and Edom will be a desolate wilderness, for the violence done to the children of Yahudah, because they shed innocent blood in their land.

20 But Yahudah will abide forever, and Yerusalem from generation to generation.

21 I will cleanse their blood, that I have not cleansed. Yahwah dwells in Zion.
