A prophet is one who prophesies. You must unerringly predict the future. If you
make one wrong prediction in the Name of YHWH, then it is known that you are not a prophet of Yahwah.
Generally it is expected that you will predict things that are to come to pass shortly,
so that the people can accept and prove you. Then they generally make more long-range
predictions of the future. Because the Kings of Yisrayah had gone bad, the prophets
were the way Yahweh communicated with his people, and with the rest of us.
The last half of the Old Testament is the times of Babylon and Persia over the Promised Land. When the Jews rejected YHWH He allowed the Babylonians to come and carry them away into captivity. Jerusalem was destroyed and most Jews were killed. The survivors lived in Babylon until the Persians came and destroyed that place. It was those Persians who commanded the Second Temple to be built. Persia remained in control until Greece took over. The last half of the Old Testament is dominated by the books of the prophets. I have separated them into two sections in my menu, one for Babylon, one for Persia. Please enjoy them all!
