The Prophet Zecharyah
The Book of Zecharyah [Zechariah]
Chapter 1
1 In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, the Word of Yahwah came to Zecharyah the son of Berechyah, the son of Iddo, the prophet, saying:
2 Yahwah was very displeased with your fathers.
3 Therefore say to them: This says Yahwah of hosts. Return to Me: says Yahwah of hosts. I will return to you: says Yahwah of hosts.
4 Do not be as your fathers, to whom the former prophets cried, saying: This says Yahwah of hosts: Return now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings. But they did not hear, nor hearken to Me: says Yahwah.
5 Your fathers, where are they? The prophets, do they live forever?
6 But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not overtake your fathers? They turned and said: Like as Yahwah of hosts thought to do to us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so He has dealt with us.
7 Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, the Word of Yahwah came to Zecharyah the son of Berechyah the son of Iddo, the prophet, saying:
8 I saw in the night, and, behold, a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle-trees that were in the bottom. Behind him there were horses: red, sorrel, and white.
9 Then I said: O my master, what are these? The malak who talked with me said to me: I will show you what these are.
10 The man who stood among the myrtle-trees answered, and said: These are those Yahwah sent to walk to and fro through the earth.
11 They answered the malak of Yahwah that stood among the myrtle-trees, and said: We walked to and fro through the earth. Behold, all the earth sits still, and is at rest.
12 Then the malak of Yahwah answered, and said: O Yahwah of hosts, how long will you not have mercy on Yerusalem and on the cities of Yahudah, against which you had indignation these threescore and ten years?
13 Yahwah answered the malak who talked with me with good words, even comfortable words.
14 So the malak who talked with me said to me: Cry, saying: This says Yahwah of hosts: I am jealous for Yerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.
15 I am very displeased with the nations that are at ease, for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.
16 Therefore this says Yahwah: I am returned to Yerusalem with mercies. My house will be built in it: says Yahwah of hosts. A line will be stretched forth over Yerusalem.
17 Cry yet again, saying: This says Yahwah of hosts: My cities will yet overflow with prosperity, Yahwah will yet comfort Zion, and will yet choose Yerusalem.
18 I lifted up my eyes, saw, and, behold, four horns.
19 I said to the malak who talked with me: What are these? He answered me: These are the horns which scattered Yahudah [Judah], Yisrayah [Israel], and Yerusalem [Jerusalem].
20 Yahwah showed me four smiths.
21 Then I said: What do these come to do? He spoke, saying: These are the horns which scattered Yahudah, so that no man could lift up his head. These are come to terrify them, to cast down the horns of the nations, which lifted up their horn against the land of Yahudah to scatter it.
1 I lifted up my eyes, saw, and, behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand.
2 Then I said: Where do you go? He said to me: To measure Yerusalem, to see what is the breadth of it, and what is the length of it.
3 Behold, the malak who talked with me went forth, and another malak went out to meet him, and said to him:
4 Run, speak to this young man. Say: Yerusalem will be inhabited as villages without walls, by reason of the multitude of men and cattle in it.
5 Yahwah says: I will be to her a wall of fire round about, and I will be the glory in the midst of her.
6 Come, come, flee from the land of the north: says Yahwah. I spread you abroad as the four winds of the heavens: says Yahwah.
7 Come Zion, escape, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.
8 For this says Yahwah of hosts: After glory He sent me to the nations which plundered you, for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.
9 Behold, I shake my hand over them, they will be a spoil to those who served them, and you will know Yahwah of hosts sent me.
10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion. Lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of you: says Yahwah.
11 Many nations will join themselves to Yahwah in that day, and will be my people. I will dwell in the midst of you, and you will know Yahwah Almighty sent me to you.
12 Yahwah will inherit Yahudah as His portion in the holy land, and will yet choose Yerusalem.
13 Be silent, all flesh, before Yahwah, for He is waked up out of His holy habitation.
1 He showed me Yahshua the high priest standing before the malak of Yahwah, and Satan standing at His right hand to be his adversary.
2 Ahyah said to Satan: Yahwah rebuke you, O Satan, yea, Yahwah who chose Yerusalem rebuke you. Is this not a brand plucked out of the fire?
3 Now Yahshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the malak.
4 He answered, and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying: Take the filthy garments from off him. And to him He said: Behold, I cause your iniquity to pass from you, and I will clothe you with rich apparel.
5 I said: Let them set a clean mitre upon his head. So they set a clean mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. The malak of Yahwah was standing by.
6 The malak of Yahwah [Ahyah] protested to Yahshua, saying:
7 Thus says Yahwah of hosts: If you will walk in my ways, if you will keep my charge, then you will judge my house, will keep my courts, and I will give you a place of access among these who stand by.
8 Hear now, O Yahshua the high priest (you and your fellows who sit before you, for they are men who are a sign). Behold, I will bring forth my servant the Branch [Zecharyah 6:12].
9 Behold the stone I set before Yahshua, upon one stone are seven eyes. Behold, I will engrave the graving on it: says Yahwah of hosts. I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.
10 In that day: says Yahwah of hosts; you will invite every man his neighbor under the vine, and under the fig-tree.
1 The malak who talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man who is wakened out of his sleep.
2 He said to me: What do you see? I said: I see, and, behold, a candlestick all of gold, with its bowl upon the top of it, and its seven lamps on it (there are seven pipes to each of the lamps, which are upon the top of it),
3 and two olive-trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side.
4 I answered, and spoke to the malak who talked with me, saying: What are these, my master?
5 Then the malak who talked with me answered, and said to me: Do you not know what these are? I said: No, my master.
6 Then he answered, and spoke to me, saying: This is the Word of Yahwah to Zerubbabel, saying: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit; says Yahwah of hosts.
7 Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain, and he will bring forth the top stone with shoutings to it of: Grace, grace.
8 Moreover the Word of Yahwah came to me, saying:
9 The hands of Zerubbabel laid the foundation of this house, his hands will also finish it, and you will know Yahwah of hosts sent me to you.
10 For who despised the day of small things? These seven will rejoice, and will see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel. These are the eyes of Yahwah, which run to and fro through the whole earth.
11 Then I answered, and said to him: What are these two olive-trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side of it?
12 I answered the second time, and said to him: What are these two olive-branches, which are beside the two golden spouts, that empty the golden oil out of themselves?
13 He answered me, and said: Do you not know what these are? I said: No, my master.
14 Then he said: These are the two anointed ones, who stand by the Master of the whole earth [the Two Witnesses of Revelation, Enoch and Eliyah].
1 Then again I lifted up my eyes, saw, and, behold, a flying roll.
2 He said to me: What do you see? I answered: I see a flying roll. The length of it is twenty cubits, and the breadth ten cubits.
3 Then he said to me: This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole land [Isaiah 24:6, Deuteronomy 11:26]. Everyone who steals will be cut off on the one side according to it, and everyone who swears will be cut off on the other side according to it.
4 I will cause it to go forth: says Yahwah of hosts. It will enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him who swears falsely by my Name. It will abide in the midst of his house, and will consume it with the timber and the stones.
5 Then the malak who talked with me went forth, and said to me: Lift up your eyes, and see what is this that goes forth.
6 I said: What is it? He said: This is the ephah that goes forth. He said moreover: This is their appearance in all the land
7 (behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead), and this is a woman sitting in the middle of the ephah.
8 He said: This is Wickedness. He cast her down into the middle of the ephah, and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth of it.
9 Then I lifted up my eyes, saw, and, behold, there came forth two women, and the wind was in their wings. Now they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the ephah between earth and heaven.
10 Then I said to the malak who talked with me: Where do these bear the ephah?
11 He said to me: To build her a house in the land of Shinar [Sumer], and when it is prepared, she will be set there in her own place.
1 Again I lifted up my eyes, saw, and, behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains, and the mountains were mountains of brass.
2 In the first chariot were red horses, in the second chariot black horses,
3 in the third chariot white horses, and in the fourth chariot grizzled strong horses.
4 Then I answered, and said to the malak who talked with me: What are these, my master?
5 The malak answered, and said to me: These are the four winds of heaven, which go forth from standing before the Master of all the earth.
6 The chariot with the black horses goes forth toward the north country, the white went forth after them, and the grizzled went forth toward the south country.
7 The strong went forth, and searched to go, that they might walk to and fro through the earth. He said: Get out, walk to and fro through the earth. So they walked to and fro through the earth.
8 Then he cried to me, and spoke to me, saying: Behold, those who go toward the north country quieted my spirit in the north country.
9 The Word of Yahwah came to me, saying:
10 Take of those of the captivity (even of Heldai, of Tobiyah, and of Yedayah), and come the same day, go into the house of Yoshiyah the son of Zephanyah, where they are come from Babylon.
11 Yea, take of them silver and gold. Make crowns, and set them upon the head of Yahshua the son of Yehozadak, the high priest.
12 Speak to Him, saying: Thus speaks Yahwah of hosts, saying: Behold the man whose name is the Branch. He will grow up out of his place, he will build the temple of Yahwah.
13 Even he will build the temple of Yahwah, he will bear the glory, and will sit and rule upon his throne, he will be a priest upon his throne, and the counsel of peace will be between them both.
14 The crowns will be to Helem, to Tobiyah, to Yedayah, and to Hen the son of Zephanyah, for a memorial in the temple of Yahwah.
15 Those who are far off will come and build in the temple of Yahwah, and you will know Yahwah of hosts sent me to you. This will come to pass, if you will diligently obey the voice of Yahwah your Father.
1 It came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the Word of Yahwah came to Zecharyah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chislev.
2 Now they of Beth-el had sent Sharezer and Regem-melech, and their men, to entreat the favor of Yahwah,
3 to speak to the priests of the house of Yahwah of hosts, and to the prophets, saying: Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?
4 Then the Word of Yahwah of hosts came to me, saying:
5 Speak to all the people of the land, and to the priests. Say: When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month, even these seventy years, did you at all fast to Me, even to Me?
6 When you eat, and when you drink, do you not eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?
7 Should you not hear the words which Yahwah cried by the former prophets, when Yerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities round about her, and the South, and the lowland were inhabited?
8 The Word of Yahwah came to Zecharyah, saying:
9 Thus did Yahwah of hosts speak, saying: Execute true judgment, show kindness and compassion every man to his brother,
10 do not oppress the widow, nor the fatherless, the sojourner, nor the poor, and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.
11 But they refused to hearken, pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they might not hear.
12 Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, unless they would hear the law, and the words Yahwah of hosts sent by His Spirit by the former prophets. Therefore there came great wrath from Yahwah of hosts.
13 It is come to pass, as He cried, and they would not hear; so they will cry, and I will not hear: said Yahwah of hosts.
14 I will scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they do not know. Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned, for they laid the pleasant land desolate.
1 The Word of Yahwah of hosts came to me, saying:
2 This says Yahwah of hosts: I am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am zealous for her with great wrath.
3 This says Yahwah: I am returned to Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Yerusalem. Yerusalem will be called: The city of truth. The mountain of Yahwah of hosts: the holy mountain.
4 This says Yahwah of hosts: There will yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Yerusalem, every man with his staff in his hand for very age.
5 The streets of the city will be full of boys and girls playing in the streets.
6 This says Yahwah of hosts: If it is marvellous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, should it also be marvellous in my eyes: says Yahwah of hosts?
7 This says Yahwah of hosts: Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country.
8 I will bring them, and they will dwell in Yerusalem. They will be my people, and I will be their Father, in truth and in righteousness.
9 This says Yahwah of hosts: Let your hands be strong, you who hear in these days these words from the mouth of the prophets who were in the day that the foundation of the house of Yahwah of hosts was laid, even the temple, that it might be built.
10 For before those days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast, neither was there any peace to him who went out or came in, because of the adversary, for I set all men every one against his neighbor.
11 But now I will not be to the remnant of this people as in the former days: says Yahwah of hosts.
12 There will be the seed of peace. The vine will give its fruit, the ground will give its increase, the heavens will give their dew, and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things.
13 It will come to pass, as you were a curse among the nations, O house of Yahudah and house of Yisrayah, so I will save you, and you will be a blessing. Do not fear, but let your hands be strong.
14 For this says Yahwah of hosts: As I thought to do evil to you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath; says Yahwah of hosts; and I did not repent,
15 so again I thought in these days to do good to Yerusalem, and to the house of Yahudah. Do not fear.
16 These are the things you will do; speak every man the truth with his neighbor, execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates,
17 let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbor, and love no false oath, for all these are things I hate: says Yahwah.
18 The Word of Yahwah of hosts came to me, saying:
19 Thus says Yahwah of hosts: The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, will be to the house of Yahudah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts. Therefore love truth and peace.
20 This says Yahwah of hosts: It will yet come to pass, there will come peoples, and the inhabitants of many cities.
21 The inhabitants of one city will go to another, saying: Let us go speedily to ask the favor of Yahwah, and to seek Yahwah of hosts. I will go also.
22 Yea, many peoples and strong nations will come to seek Yahwah of hosts in Yerusalem, and to seek the favor of Yahwah.
23 This says Yahwah of hosts: In those days it will come to pass, that ten men will take hold, out of all the languages of the nations, they will take hold of the skirt of him who is a Yahudi [Jew], saying: We will go with you, for we heard Yahwah is with you.
1 The burden of the Word of Yahwah upon the land of Hadrach. Damascus will be its resting-place (for the eye of man and of all the tribes of Yisrayah will be toward Yahwah);
2 and Hamath, also, which borders it; also Tyre and Sidon, because they are very wise.
3 Tyre built herself a stronghold, heaped up silver as the dust, and fine gold as the mire of the streets.
4 Behold, Yahwah will dispossess her, He will smite her power in the sea, and she will be devoured with fire.
5 Ashkelon will see it, and fear. Gaza also, and will be severely pained. Ekron, for her expectation, will be put to shame. The king will perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon will not be inhabited.
6 A bastard will dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.
7 I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth, then he will be a remnant for our Father. He will be as a chieftain in Yahudah, and Ekron as a Jebusite.
8 I will camp about my house against the army, that none pass through or return, and no oppressor will pass through them any more, for now I see with my eyes.
9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion. Shout, O daughter of Yerusalem. Behold, your king comes to you. He is just, having salvation, lowly, riding upon an ass, even upon a colt the foal of an ass. [Luke 19:35]
10 I will cut off the chariot from Ephrayim, and the horse from Yerusalem. The battle bow will be cut off. He will speak peace to the nations, and His dominion will be from sea to sea, from the River to the ends of the earth.
11 As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant I set free your prisoners from the pit where no water is.
12 Turn to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope, even today I declare I will render double to you.
13 I bent Yahudah for me, I filled the bow with Ephrayim. I will stir up your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O Greece, and will make you as the sword of a mighty man.
14 Yahwah will be seen over them. His arrow will go forth as the lightning. The Heavenly Father Yahwah will blow the trumpet, and will go with whirlwinds of the south.
15 Yahwah of hosts will defend them. They will devour, and will tread down the sling-stones. They will drink, and make a noise as through wine. They will be filled like bowls, like the corners of the altar.
16 Yahwah their Father will save them in that day as the flock of His people, for they will be as the stones of a crown, lifted on high over His land.
17 For how great is His goodness, and how great is His beauty! Grain will make the young men flourish, and new wine the virgins.
1 Ask of Yahwah rain in the time of the latter rain, even of Yahwah who makes lightnings, and He will give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.
2 The teraphim spoke vanity, the diviners saw a lie, they told false dreams, they comfort in vain. Therefore they go their way like sheep. They are afflicted, because there is no shepherd.
3 My anger is kindled against the shepherds, and I will punish the he-goats. Yahwah of hosts visits His flock, the house of Yahudah, and will make them as His goodly horse in the battle.
4 From Him will come forth the corner-stone, from Him the nail, from Him the battle bow, from Him every ruler together.
5 They will be as mighty men, treading down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle. They will fight, because Yahwah is with them, and the riders on horses will be confounded.
6 I will strengthen the house of Yahudah. I will save the house of Yahusef. I will bring them back, for I have mercy upon them. They will be as though I did not cast them off, for I am Yahwah their Father, and I hear them.
7 They of Ephrayim will be like a mighty man, and their heart will rejoice as through wine (yea, their children will see it, and rejoice), their heart will be glad in Yahwah.
8 I will hiss for them, and gather them, for I redeem them, and they will increase as they did increase.
9 I will sow them among the peoples, they will remember me in far countries, they will live with their children, and will return.
10 I will bring them again also out of the land of Egypt, and gather them out of Assyria. I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon, and place will not be found for them.
11 He will pass through the sea of affliction, will smite the waves in the sea, and all the depths of the Nile will dry up. The pride of Assyria will be brought down, and the sceptre of Egypt will depart.
12 I will strengthen them in Yahwah, and they will walk up and down in my Name: says Yahwah.
1 Open your doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour your cedars.
2 Wail, O fir-tree, for the cedar is fallen, because the goodly ones are destroyed. Wail, O you oaks of Bashan, for the strong forest is come down.
3 A voice of the wailing of the shepherds! Their glory is destroyed. A voice of the roaring of young lions! The pride of the Yordan is laid waste.
4 This said Yahwah my Father: Feed the flock of slaughter,
5 whose possessors kill them and not hold themselves guilty. And those who sell them say: Blessed is Yahwah, for I am rich. Their own shepherds do not pity them.
6 I will no longer pity the inhabitants of the land: says Yahwah. Lo, I will deliver the men everyone into his neighbor's hand, and into the hand of his king. They will smite the land, and out of their hand I will not deliver them.
7 So I fed the flock of slaughter, verily the poor of the flock. I took to me two staves (the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands), and I fed the flock.
8 I cut off the three shepherds in one month, for my soul was weary of them, and their soul also loathed me.
9 Then I said: I will not feed you. That which dies, let it die. That which is to be cut off, let it be cut off. Let those who are left eat everyone the flesh of another.
10 I took my staff Beauty, and cut it apart, that I might break my covenant which I made with all the peoples.
11 It was broken in that day, and thus the poor of the flock who gave heed to me knew it was the Word of Yahwah.
12 I said to them: If you think good, give me my hire. If not, forbear. So they weighed for my hire thirty pieces of silver. [Mathew 26:15]
13 Yahwah said to me: Cast it to the potter, the goodly price that I was prized at by them. I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter, in the house of Yahwah. [Matthew 27:5-7]
14 Then I cut apart my other staff, even Bands, that I might break the brotherhood between Yahudah and Yisrayah.
15 Yahwah said to me: Take to you yet again the instruments of a foolish shepherd.
16 Lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, who will not visit those who are cut off, nor will seek those who are scattered, nor heal what is broken, nor feed what is sound. But he will eat the flesh of the fat sheep, and will tear their hoofs in pieces.
17 Woe to the worthless shepherd who leaves the flock! The sword will be upon his arm, and upon his right eye. His arm will be clean dried up, and his right eye will be utterly darkened.
1 The burden of the Word of Yahwah concerning Yisrayah. Thus says Yahwah, who stretches forth the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him:
2 Behold, I will make Yerusalem a cup of reeling to all the peoples round about, and also it will be upon Yahudah in the siege against Yerusalem.
3 It will come to pass in that day, I will make Yerusalem a burdensome stone for all the peoples, all who burden themselves with it will be wounded. All the nations of the earth will be gathered together against it.
4 In that day: says Yahwah; I will smite every horse with terror, and his rider with madness. I will open my eyes upon the house of Yahudah, and smite every horse of the peoples with blindness.
5 The chieftains of Yahudah will say in their heart: The inhabitants of Yerusalem are my strength in Yahwah of hosts their Father.
6 In that day I will make the chieftains of Yahudah like a pan of fire among wood, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will devour all the peoples round about, on the right hand and on the left, and those of Yerusalem will yet again dwell in their own place, even in Yerusalem.
7 Yahwah will save the tents of Yahudah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Yerusalem are not magnified above Yahudah.
8 In that day Yahwah will defend the inhabitants of Yerusalem. He who is feeble among them at that day will be as David, and the house of David will be as Yahwah, as the malak of Yahwah before them.
9 It will come to pass in that day, I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Yerusalem.
10 I will pour the spirit of grace and of supplication upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Yerusalem. They will look to Him who they pierced. They will mourn for Him, as one mourns for his only son. They will be in bitterness for Him, as one who is in bitterness for his first-born.
11 In that day there will be a great mourning in Yerusalem, as the mourning of Hadad-rimmon in the valley of Megiddon.
12 The land will mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart;
13 the family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of the Shimeites apart, and their wives apart;
14 all the families who remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.
1 In that day there will be a fountain opened to the house of David, and to the inhabitants of Yerusalem, for sin and for uncleanness.
2 It will come to pass in that day: says Yahwah of hosts; I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they will not be remembered. Also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.
3 It will come to pass, when any will yet prophesy, then his father and his mother who begat him will say to him: You will not live, for you speak lies in the Name of Yahwah. His father and his mother who begat him will thrust him through when he prophesies.
4 It will come to pass in that day, the prophets will be ashamed everyone of his vision, when he prophesies, nor will they wear a hairy mantle [2Kings 1:8] to deceive.
5 But he will say: I am no prophet, I am a tiller of the ground, I was made a bondman from my youth.
6 One will say to him: What are these wounds in your hands? [John 20:27] Then He will answer: Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.
7 O sword, awake against my shepherd, and against the man who is my fellow: says Yahwah of hosts. Smite the shepherd, the sheep will be scattered [Matthew 26:31], and I will turn my hand upon the little ones.
8 It will come to pass, that in all the land: says Yahwah; two parts will be cut off and die, but the third will be left.
9 I will bring the third part into the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried. They will call on my Name, and I will hear them. I will say: It is my people. They will say: Yahwah is my Father.
1 Behold, a day of Yahwah comes, when your spoil will be divided in the midst of you.
2 I will gather all nations to battle against Yerusalem. The city will be taken, the houses rifled, the women ravished, half of the city will go forth into captivity, but the residue of the people will not be cut off from the city.
3 Then Yahwah will go forth, and fight against those nations, as when He fought in the day of battle.
4 His feet will stand upon the mount of Olives in that day, which is before Yerusalem on the east. The mount of Olives will be split in the middle toward the east and toward the west, and there will be a very great valley. Half of the mountain will remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
5 You will flee by the valley of my mountains (for the valley of the mountains will reach to Azel). Yea, you will flee, like as you fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziyah king of Yahudah. Yahwah my Father will come, and all the holy ones with you.
6 It will come to pass in that day, that there will not be light. The bright ones [sun and moon] will withdraw themselves.
7 It will be one day which is known to Yahwah (not day, and not night), but it will come to pass, that at evening time there will be light.
8 It will come to pass in that day, that living waters will go out from Yerusalem; half of them toward the eastern sea, and half of them toward the western sea. In summer and in winter it will be.
9 Yahwah will be King over all the earth. In that day Yahwah will be One, and his Name One.
10 All the land will be made like the Arabah, from Geba to Rimmon south of Yerusalem. She will be lifted up, and will dwell in her place, from Benjamin's gate to the place of the first gate, to the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananel to the king's winepresses.
11 Men will dwell there, and there will be no more curse, but Yerusalem will dwell safely.
12 This will be the plague with which Yahwah will smite all the peoples who war against Yerusalem: their flesh will consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes will consume away in their sockets, and their tongue will consume away in their mouth.
13 It will come to pass in that day, a great tumult from Yahwah will be among them. They will lay hold everyone on the hand of his neighbor, and his hand will rise up against the hand of his neighbor.
14 Yahudah also will fight at Yerusalem. The wealth of all the nations round about will be gathered together, gold, silver, and apparel, in great abundance.
15 So will be the plague of the horse, of the mule, of the camel, and of the ass, and of all the beasts that will be in those camps, as that plague.
16 It will come to pass, everyone who is left of all the nations that came against Yerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, Yahwah of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
17 It will be, that whoever of all the families of the earth does not go up to Yerusalem to worship the King, Yahwah of hosts, upon them there will be no rain.
18 If the family of Egypt do not go up, and not come, no rain will be upon them. This will be the plague with which Yahwah will smite the nations that do not go up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
19 This will be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all the nations which do not go up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
20 In that day there will be upon the bells of the horses: HOLY to Yahwah. The pots in Yahwah's house will be like the bowls before the altar.
21 Yea, every pot in Yerusalem and in Yahudah will be holy to Yahwah of hosts. All those who sacrifice will come and take of them, and boil in there. In that day there will not be a Canaanite in the house of Yahwah of hosts.
